NY Video Game Critics Awards: A Link Between Worlds And Super Mario 3D World Amongst Winners

Nintendo’s Wii U and 3DS games have been up for a number of awards this year, and last night the third annual New York Video Game Critics Circle Awards took place to honour the best games of 2013. Nintendo’s games were nominated in many categories, including the final award of the evening: Best Game.

With Nintendo dominating the handheld category, it was clear a winner would be on the cards. But it was the critically acclaimed The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds on the Nintendo 3DS which whipped the New York critics into a frenzy to win Best Handheld game. Super Mario 3D World for the Wii U was also a winner, taking the trophy for Best Kids Game. However, Super Mario 3D World just missed out on Best Game of 2013, with The Last of Us taking home the crown.

  1. Well, they couldn’t just give GOTY to Super Mario 3D World over The Last of Us…. Gamers would firebomb the NY event.

Oh how gamers are head-over-heels for the Last of Us…

  3. Hey they got nominated for game of the year. Well good for them that’s got to account for something other than kids game of the year. Mario games are universally liked whether one has the balls to say it or not. But its ok go ahead and hide in the shadows playing the game.

  4. Am I the only one who finds it downright disturbing that a bunch of grown ass, balding, middle aged men are proud that favorite and most played game won a *best KIDS game* award?
