This week’s UK charts are now in courtesy of GFK chart-track. Unfortunately, there are no Nintendo Wii U or 3DS games in the individual top 40 for the second consecutive week. As the end of April nears, Nintendo’s first party game slump begins to pick up as Kirby: Triple Deluxe swoops in for mid-May, paving the way for Mario Kart 8 on May 30.
This week’s chart-topper is the non-moving Xbox 360’s Titanfall, while new release FIFA World Cup Brazil takes second place. Ubisoft’s Trials Fusion enters highest for the Playstation 4 and rounds out the top 10. The individual top 40 can be found below.

Actually, Second Son and Killzone are quite fun. Killzone is by far one of the best multiplayer shooters I have ever played. Plus, thief isn’t a next gen exclusive. It’s available on quite a few consoles.

At least it’s just the 360 filling up the top charts. I have a feeling that as long as they keep producing 360 games, the XB1 version will always be inferior. A majority of gamers still play the PS4, Wii, and 360 because there aren’t enough games to make the jump to next gen. I only own about 7 Wii U games and 5 PS4 games because there are still titles I want coming out on the 360. Once the 360 is moved out of market, next gen will fill up the list.
You have to hand it to Microsoft, they produced a very successful system and it is showing in the charts. I am pretty sure if Nintendo even followed a few pointers from Microsoft, they would be on the road to recovery, but we all know that is not going to happen.

I can pick out a few good games that I like on that list. Titanfall, Infamous, Lego Movie, Battlefield, Elder Scrolls online… What may not be “Good” to you is “Good” to someone else. Also for those interested in Titanfall, get it on the 360. The XB1 version is the exact same with slightly better graphics.
If you want to pretend that you cannot objectively analyse quality fo games – at least to a degree – then that’s fine. In your world all of those top 40 games could be considered good. I believe that games do have an inherent objective quality to a point.
Looking through an objective lens, I would say there are probably a couple of good games on that list, and Titanfall sure ain’t one them.

I wonder sometimes why the writers here work for this site – they evidently hate the Wii U and take any opportunity to knock it. Hell, they even posted that (entirely false and incorrect) article on the Wii U being a bigger failure than the Dreamcast.

The point is they put an emphasis on the negativity, which is counterproductive on a site for Nintendo fans. They also clearly don’t bother to verify if what they’re copy-pasting from the internet is accurate or true, as in the case of the Dreamcast article. Gamers–regardless of preferred console–are a dying breed, or perhaps outnumbered. W/ the incorporation of social media & shallow online components (instead of a purer online experience), gaming has now become a web of peer pressure. The majority of games themselves have traded substance for style. Even Sony’s image (& THQ, Capcom, Konami, etc.) has morphed into one very similar to MS’ vision. & there are youngsters who’ve taken up “gaming” in the last few gens & are niave to what & how fun gaming used to be. That demograph has taken over & feel entitled, even though they are in transition (cue Alice Cooper’s song ‘Eighteen’). But, while they are where the money is & thus influence the industry to an extent, that was really no different than before. The only differences I see are MS’ influence & the rise of the West’s philosophy (or in some cases, lack thereof). The gaming industry has been institutionalized, & ruled by shareholders, apathetic suits rather than actual pubs & devs. Roger Ebert claimed video games can never be art. While I disagree, his claim is vindicated more & more each time a video games sales chart is released & just how much the pub/devs have strayed w/ their products. Yes, it’s a business, but why doesn’t gameplay come first anymore?
W/ out a SEGA console & what Sony was in the 6th gen (PS2), Nintendo & indies have been struggling since the 7th gen to keep the flame burning in the spotlight. Before I got my Wii U, I seriously contemplated quitting consoles & sticking to handhelds. I even looked @ the PS Vita to diversify, but the proprietary storage is extortion (& Ninty got so much crap for GCN memory cards), & it mostly offers console gaming, just, uh, on the go. I think GB Pocket was the last handheld I actually played outside a home. If not for StreetPass, my 3DS would stay home. Hel, I’ve only seen one person ever play a portable in public. But I digress… Even the GBA, which was basically a 32-bit portable console, offered exclusives.
Whatever. If the industry keeps going in the direction it has been, I’ll just stop gaming & read more. But I hope MK8 & SSB propel Nintendo into a trend-setting position again & games (& my faith) are restored to their former glory on consoles. I hate mobile games & how much genres, IPs, & Sony have fallen.

There is plenty of hope. I am really excited for the direction the Wii U is going. The problem is that casual gamers don’t want change. Anything innovative is shunned and we are stuck buying the same game over and over again. The reason why? Game companies are afraid to make something new. Why change up the wheel when it works well enough. Game companies will keep making the same games over and over because that is what sells. No duh there are no top Nintendo games on the top charts. There aren’t really any new games coming out for any of the consoles. Most of this list consists of games that have been available for a few months. Plus, Titanfall takes up two slots right at the top because it’s the newest game out. Most of the games on that list are for last Gen games anyway. There are few PS4 games up there, and even fewer XB1. I don’t see how this means that the Wii U is dead. There are quite a few games I will be picking up for it this year. There are about five games I need this year coming to Wii U, and only Three on my PS4. It’s going to be an exciting year for all three new consoles, and I can’t wait to see what else they announce at E3!

To be honest, there is more than one good game for the Wii U. If anything, we should be more worried about the Xbox One. It has no no good games worth buying. Currently on the market for the XB1 there are no games worth looking in to. Titanfall I hear you say? Why buy a $500 NSA tool when you can play the EXACT same game on the Pc or 360. All the big games currently advertised on the XB1 are either on last gen, or won’t be coming out for months. Also, why buy the XB1 when you could buy a PS4 and get the same games that not only look better, but run better as well.
It’s the exclusives. What’s good to certain people aren’t good for everyone. I’d personally buy an X1 for Killer Instinct, Titanfall, Forza, and the next inevitable Halo. I still prefer the PS4 though as of the moment. It’s too early in the generation to say who has won.

Kind of funny when the last gen version of Titanfall is actually doing better than the Xbox One version.
