A Headline In Today’s LA Times Reads “Nintendo’s White PlayStation 4 Debuts”

EA Sports head Peter Moore has tweeted an image of an article in today’s LA Times that reads, “Nintendo’s White PlayStation 4 Debuts”. Clearly someone at the LA Times isn’t too clued up on the company that created PlayStation 4, but it certainly wasn’t Nintendo.

    1. It’s from the alternate universe where Nintendo and Sony didn’t go separate ways, and those awful CD-i Zelda games weren’t made as a result. I wanna live there instead.

xD If we would have gotten totally different games in that universe from what we got here, I’m pretty sure I prefer to stay here.

They are the ones that essentially started it all… so in that regard they kind of did “make” all the consoles. ;)

  1. Alternate Universe Nintendo. Did somebody go back to 91 and change the timeline ? If they did I would like to shake their hand.

There was a problem with the contract they were signing with Sony. Apparently, they weren’t stubborn, they were willing to agree until they read the contract, to summarize what the contract says it will mean

“Sony has control of the products sold and almost all money will go to us and a small fraction will go to Nintendo.”

Or something like that, but yeah, I understand why Nintendo didn’t do it.

o.O Wow. I knew there was something about it Nintendo didn’t like but damn! I didn’t know it was that bad. And that idiot Sony Emperor said Nintendo stabbed Sony in the back! xD More like Sony was trying to pull a fast one & Nintendo’s CEO at the time told them “fuck no!”

            1. Valve Admiral GLaDOS

I honestly think they should’ve asked them to rethink the contract than tell them “Fuck this shit, lets go to Phillips.” which then caused the cancellation of the Nintendo Playstation and turned it into the Playstation progressing into that you see today and creating the Zelda CDi crap, but…history is history, can’t change it unless with a time machine and as well as having the risk of changing the present that you knew.

              1. Tallon Ridley XIII: Kalas

Maybe they did try & Sony wouldn’t budge. Both companies were pretty egotistic at the time, though, so either way, it probably wouldn’t have mattered.

Believe what you want, but truth is truth, and refusing to see the truth is fine, especially since a person like you probably likes to think I’m some mindless drone, just don’t come crying to me when you fail a test on video game history.

              1. Tallon Ridley XIII: Kalas

Don’t hurt the guy too much. He’s probably been brainwashed into believing Sony was screwed over by Nintendo.

          2. Wrong, the jist of it was that Sony wanted as much ownership of all Nintendo’s Intellectual Properties as Ninty had. Basically make a game and change the formula as much as they wanted without Nintendo having a say so.

I love PS as much as Nintendo but that would have been horrible, PS would’ve tried to make all Ninty IP’s realistic and mature to cater to that other demographic that Nintendo wasn’t catering to.

I think this is the version of the contract between Sony & Nintendo that I had heard about. I wouldn’t want Sony trying to change some of Nintendo’s IPs like Legend of Zelda or Mario into something it’s clearly not meant to be. Maybe the contract could have been changed where Nintendo gives Sony creative freedom with certain IPs while Nintendo kept full control over others. I wonder what Metroid would have become today if Sony was in charge of it’s development instead of Nintendo.

  2. Ha ha. This made my day. Although, I often wonder what Nintendo would be like if they kept the original PlayStation development team,

  3. Don’t you get it?
Nintendo destroyed Sony so badly that they had to sale their PS4 brand and games to Nintendo so now, we’ll see the Nintendo PlayStation 4U, featuring even better graphic and the ability to play Wii U and PS4 games :D

    1. Ummm… how about no. But it would be cool to see a shared project between Nintendo and PlayStation someday.

      1. I believe he was joking, but yes, a kin ship between the two companies would be amazing for us the gamers.

      2. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

Even though we are rival enemies, I’d like to see that to to once and for all remove the Xbot threat…

    1. But it’s Nintendo’s new Console XD
Yeah, I know this is a mistake but it’s a funny and almost spooky one. Sony is almost dying because the PS4 might be doing well for them but they are still losing a lot of money from their other parts so Nintendo buying the PlayStation brand might be next.

      1. Cryptic in a way, ya? The writing is on the wall.

I wonder if the same reporter thinks the new Zelda game is titled “HOLY SHIIIIT!”….? As i can imagins that was the verbal response of nearly every Zelda fan in the house whenthey first saw it. ;)

      2. Even if Sony goes bankrupt, which won’t happen anytime soon, the Playstation division would still stand as it is one of Sony’s most profitable department, if not THE most profitable one. So, no, Nintendo won’t own Playstation anywhere in the near future.

  4. SherlockWillFightBilbo

In Los Angeles, where E3 is currently taking place, a reporter hasn’t done ANY research. Fantastic.

Get the console’s name wrong? Fine. That can happen.
Get the company’s name wrong? You really don’t care about your job lol.

  5. You can always tell when an article is written by someone who knows nothing about video games. They should do their homework before making an ass of themselves.

    1. Yes, us Cyborg PC/Console hybrids are a much superior race than these humans that know nothing about games.

  8. Maybe the editor thinks that Nintendo should really pick up the power that it’s competitors have. But as far as I’m concerned, the power of a console means nothing! It’s the games you get for it that matter the most!

  9. Tallon Ridley XIII: Kalas

xD If Nintendo & Sony had stayed together, I’m pretty sure we wouldn’t be having the Nintendo Playstation 4. We would have had a Nintendo Playstation but that would have been the only console called that.

  10. Hey guys, be sure to pick up Atari’s Xbox too! jk trollololol Can anyone do their fucking job these days?!!?

  11. People know nothing lol like that poor lil bastard nig ger kid that spends his days and night on youtube trying to find a way to make money on ad revenue he is clearly a Nintendo fanboy he is just spastic…. and a nig ger

  12. Well, at least we all have something to laugh at. :D

Course it also makes us think of what could have been had Nintendo not shot Sony down so long ago when they could be working together.

    1. Tallon Ridley XIII: Kalas

More like if Sony hadn’t have tried to take most of the money from the endeavor. “We’re a bigger company than you & we made most of the stuff for the system, so we’re entitled to a majority of the money from not just the console but the games you guys make for it.” Effectively trying to snuff Nintendo into 3rd party status.
