Sakurai Shares Classic Mode Screenshots Detailing Rewards For Smash Bros 3DS

Super Smash Bros director Masahiro Sakurai is back for another two screenshots showcasing the 3DS version on Miiverse today. Sakurai shares details on Classic mode and its reward system, whereby an arcade roller will spin before each stage determining which reward you’ll receive if the stage is beaten.

Raising the difficulty level will increase your chances of receiving a greater amount of the reward selection, which includes trophies, gold, custom clothes for Mii characters and so on. Make sure to catch the Twitch stream Nintendo will host at the end of this week for Super Smash Bros. Here’s what Sakurai said on Miiverse:

In Classic mode, a roller spins before every stage to determine your reward. Rewards in red are for customization, green ones are trophies, and yellow means precious gold. Of course, if you raise the intensity, the abundance of these rewards will increase quite a bit, too. You can be rewarded in every stage, so in that way this mode might be a little more generous compared to previous games in the series.

And here’s the results screen. It shows what you gained in each stage, but you won’t be rewarded until you clear it all. If you mess up in the middle, you can lose some of them too. The fighter icons are special attacks, and icons like the shield are equipment. The icons that say Mii on them are hats and clothes for Mii characters. Icons that show characters on a stand are trophies, of course, and the coins are gold you earned.

    1. Don’t read it then, genius. We all know it’s 3DS news at the moment as the game is out any day now. The Wii U news will come after that.

    2. 3DS Version’s coming out in a couple of days in Japan, so they’re going to show more details for the 3DS Version…

        1. Care enough to comment on every article. Go play your PS4 and it’s adult games. Oh, there aren’t any to play are there. Not unless you count PS3 remasters. My PS4 is nothing but an expensive paperweight at the moment, something that won’t change this year looking at the release schedule. Apart from LBP3 or is that not a “baby game” as it’s on a Sony machine? Bellend.

        2. Nintendo Commander 4axis

I guess you care enough to click on every post and have the time to write something. Go play your PS4…oh shit! I forgot you have nothing to play.

  1. I’m so tired of all these spoilers about this game. I won’t buy the game, I won’t spend my money on something that I already know.
Nintendo thinks that spoilers=cheap advertising, well let me say spoilers=/=advertising

      1. fu**** genius, there are news on every site, on every social and in my mail, that’s the way nintendo promotes games now and it’s a true disaster. No ads on tv since dec, 2012 and sales are ****

        1. Bullshit. I saw an advert for Mario Kart 8 this morning on Channel 5. But, hey, why let the truth get in the way of a whiney childish rant?

  2. Zushidotomo The 3D Hero

Oh c’mon. You people just don’t know how to get happy with what is given to you. Some of you cry because PoTD isn’t Mewtwo kicking ass or the fill roster isn’t announced. Others of you get all mad that you’re receiving these little awesome details about the game. Don’t want spoilers? DON’T CLICK. DON’T READ. DON’T LOOK. But don’t talk like what he’s doing is some kind of sick job. He is amazing by doing this for his fans. Most developers say f**k you and wait for the game and you don’t get anything more than a 1 minute trailer. I am a person that HATES spoilers but I couldn’t be more excited for this game and I’m sure I’ll be even more surprised when I learn or discover more stuff about it. Its time for you to stop and realise how good Sakurai is for doing this to us, which we don’t really deserve since there are *THOSE* leaks roaming around the internet since someone can’t wait or likes to create chaos. Geez, people, grow up and appreciate what you have.

  3. I used to love Classic Mode on Super Smash Bros Brawl. I can’t wait to play it again. But on the go this time!

  4. The line was longer for Smash 3ds at Comic con because of Smash run, but even with the WiiU version being a walk up (i played more than a few matches) i spent most of my time in the 3DS version.

  5. equipment? Special attacks? Does this mean customizable fighters outside of mii with special move sets and stuff, or am I reading wrong?
