UK Charts: Hyrule Warriors Hacks And Slashes Its Way To Number 4, But Destiny Remains Top

This week’s UK charts are now in courtesy of GFK Chart-Track. Nintendo and Tecmo Koei’s new release Hyrule Warriors makes its fantastic debut at number four in the individual charts. The hack and slash title from the joining of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors franchises couldn’t quite fend off competition from Destiny, though squeezes in front of Disney Infinity 2.0, another new release this week.

Further down the chart and into the top 20 is life simulation game Tomodachi Life, which slips from 11 to 14. Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call for the 3DS also manages to bag a place at 15 in the individual charts, amongst a number of other new releases. Just sitting inside the top 20 is the Wii U version of Disney Infinity, sandwiched between Call of Duty: Ghosts and Watch Dogs.

Nintendo’s staple racing game Mario Kart 8 moves into 28, while Pokemon Black and White for the Nintendo DS re-enter at the tail-end of the chart. Below you’ll find the top 40 individual chart in full.

          1. Not in the UK. This is an article about the UK charts where there are almost twice as many XBones than Wii Us.

So it is an impressive start.

    1. I dunno what to make of your comment, but if you’re saying PC is dominating you may want to re-check the list cos there’s only ONE PC title in there. Some of them are also available on PC and aren’t in the charts with their console counterparts.

  1. I guess a lot of people were screaming for WOW with FPS… I was initially very intrigued, when they announced this game. Kind of expected the “next” Halo franchise, but then it turned out to be World of Warcraft with guns, no offline play, no split screen play…. Yeah, no thank you. Especially while deployed to Afghanistan.

    1. Being in a spot where you have no internet this game is gonna do nothing for you, which is a shame because it is a really good game. I don’t like FPS games at all, not ONE, and now I’m actually enjoying them because of this game. The RPG elements don’t feel that overbearing, so I’m not sure why that’s such a terrible thing for you. I enjoy the online play, it’s not competitive like most FPS multiplayer modes so you can play with your friends to beat the missions. I do hope you get a chance to really try the game.

  2. i have it pre ordered im in the usa so i have to wait till friday but looking forward to it i dont care about all the people bitching its not a traditional zelda game so what it was never meant to be. why does every1 bitch when nintendo makes a spin off and tries something new and yet sony does it allllll the time and they never get bitched about for it

      1. I don’t think he/she was serious, just some bad trolling… The last two lines make it look like he/she is trying to act like a Nintendo fanboy but I’m not sure…

      1. Overrated hack and slash #217 with rehashed enemy typesspawns and aboring ass story…from fucking Koei Tecmo? Oh wait, it’s got a Zelda skin so it’s awesome.

  3. I’ve sunk around 35 hours into Destiny now and I’m enjoying almost every second. :) However, the lack of split screen combined with a required internet connection really bugs me. Definitely not as great as many would have liked, but still pretty good. Now I just need Hyrule Warriors, Smash Wii U and 3Ds, and Pokemon Ruby to round out my gaming purchases this year.

  4. It’s interesting that out of all the games I’ve purchased this year, (around 10 so far,) more than half were for my Nintendo consoles. Nintendo really has released some of the better titles this year. From Infamous to Mario Kart, Metal Gear to Link Between Worlds, and Destiny to Hyrule Warriors… I kinda feel Nintendo has been releasing some pretty awesome games so far.

    1. agreed general sony. those are some of the better games of this year. I think what hurt destiny is they took so long, had a humongous budget and made too many claims of how this was gonna be a franchise you’d want to follow for the next decade, which simply wasn’t true. I’ve heard from a lot of people defending it. destiny is a good game, but nowhere near a great or amazing one as we all expected it to be.

      1. Exactly! It was over hyped to the max! Ha ha… I enjoy it a lot, but it’s nowhere near perfect. I am actually more excited for Super Smash 4, (Wii U and 3Ds versions,) than I think I ever was for Destiny.

    1. And what’s wrong with shooters? They’re still games, aren’t they? I et you wouldn’t be complaining if this list was full of Mario platformers

        1. I wish Nintendo liked their Wii U as much as Microsoft liked Xbox One. After all Microsoft made a change to their console like Nintendo gave 3Ds an upgrade. Yet Wii U has no physical changes like more power. Why is that? Because Nintendo doesn’t care about Wii U as much as 3Ds.

          1. Microsoft isn’t caring for Xbox One or its fanbase. Its more like desperation and damage control to fool more sales out after their major screw up with its 2013 reveal and E3 TRYING to justify DRM which everybody hates.

And if Nintendo were to physically update Wii U now, it’ll be like Sega all over again and that’s the one thing they’re avoiding on doing. You say Nintendo doesn’t care about their Wii U? Look at Vita. Even Sony doesn’t care or even talk about it anymore and its support is being pulled for legitimate reasons. 3rd parties wanna steer away from Nintendo with BS excuses and gimps (expecting people to be idiotic to believe it, buy their crap so they can do it again for another dozen “AAA” ports) just because they blindly hate them. I get some hardware decisions in the past is what drove them back but for Wii U, there’s no longer any hardware excuse because if Xbox 360 sports the same PowerPC architecture as Wii U and devs still port for that system, that proves how BS they are.

        2. Wii U isn’t dead, but it’s not just about the number of units sold but the software as well. The fact that Xbone is catching up to Wii U when it had almost a year head start and its software sales are miles ahead of Wii U shouldn’t be dismissed so easily.

          1. Catch up? LMAO Microsoft still hasn’t announced anything about Xbox sales since its sudden spike in June and its 5 million mark since early Spring but nothing about Xbox DOne passing 6 million by now. lol Still keeping the truth in the dark I see Microsoft or should I say “EA 2.0” (Activision is 1.5 and Ubishit is 3.0)

    1. Hope so too and I’m not being hypocrite because I don’t want the game at least now. lol Just wishing it best of luck and meanwhile with Destiny, I’m hearing some nasty things about it that doesn’t even justify its expensive development and hype.

                1. Destiny looks good but its single player/story is pathetic and was probably sucked to plot as a DLC scheme. Watchdogs, as I always said, could’ve been a lot better but its a fucking poor man’s GTA5 and even Saints Row 3 and I fucking hate Saints Row after 3.

  5. Well that should make sense as PS4 has almost no games, since most are available and better on PC. Good for Hyrule Warriors though, I hope it stays up there longer.

    1. At least Sony cares about the more powerful system then the weaker. Too bad I can’t say the same about Nintendo. Super Smash 4 showed that. I mean sure the Wii U version is better but the gap in what makes the Wii U version better is very narrow. HD and better controllers what else? Amiibo? You see how Nintendo added a feature to their old 3Ds to get the same feature and taking away Wii UK’s niche. Yet no physical added features to the Wii U. So I think Nintendo cares more about their 3Ds. Maybe Nintendo is thinking about killing the home console and stick with handheld? At least that’s what it seems like.

  6. Destiny copies shamelessly the gameplay of Bordelands and imitated the theme of Mass Effect, is a generic and boring game(not to mention that it’s one more FPS played in outdated controls).

  7. I thought June 15th at 9:29am Church of Sarrior said this game wouldn’t sell because Nintendo fans don’t buy 3rd party? So once Bayonneta arrives I’ll bring up on how July 28th 11:55pm he said that game wouldn’t sell neither.

  8. Flop of the millennium is still selling? i remember bungie saying you need to play this game for more than 20 hours to really know what it is about, but i really doubt anyone in this generation can do that.

  9. I actually went to buy this game but it was sold out before I got to the shop… so yeah it’s pretty popular over here in the UK

  10. I really wish The Last Of US Remastered was still the top selling PlayStation game. Even as a bigger Nintendo fan than a PS fan, that game is just phenomenal. It’s an absolute masterpiece. I wish the game never ended!

  11. Awesome! Too bad Hyrule Warriors won’t be the same in the United States here, since their god damn lists always jumble all the multiplats into one single category. Not unless Hyrule Warriors actually outsells all of the multiplats, but oh if we could be so damn lucky. xD *shrug* Whatever. At least I’ll have my copy whether the game outsells something else or not.
