Nintendo EAD Tokyo is renowned for creating some of the best video games of all-time. Now it appears as though there could be a potential third team over at Nintendo EAD Tokyo. Koichi Hayashida, who is behind Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario Galaxy 2, is rumoured to be heading the division. It would appear that the adorable Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is their first project.

As much as I love Mario, I have to agree on one thing: Mario Franchise needs to slow down with its games so that other franchises like Metroid, Ice Climbers, F-Zero and even new AAA IPs can have a chance to shine.
I’d actually much rather have a new ice climbers but its never gonna happen.
When people were clamoring for a new Kid Icarus, I got it. But Ice Climbers? What would that even look like?

I would be willing to bet it’s Mario Galaxy 3. Miyamoto has already said that they would love to revisit the Galaxy universe. I have been saying it for a while now. Mario Galaxy 3 is all but guarenteed. Zelda is Nintendos 2015 flagship game. Galaxy 3 flagship in 2016.
Sunshine sequels, Galaxy sequels – everybody asking for sequels and then bash games like cod/AssCreed in their next breath (not saying you personally, but generally). The next big flagship Mario game, which I think will launch November 2016 will be totally different to Mario 64/Sunshine and the Galaxy games. But you can bet your house that it will push boundaries and play like nothing you’ve played before.
CoD and AC are annual games. Hell, Ubisoft has made 3 AC games in the last 2 years. 3d Mario games happen once a console generation, twice if we’re lucky. (only happened one time, Wii had Galaxy 1 and 2) I don’t understand why people keep making those comparisons. But I agree with you about it might being a completely new Mario game. I wouldn’t mind that one bit. But the thought of Galaxy in HD is hard to pass up. Maybe even a 64, Galaxy hybrid type of game.. Either way, WHATEVER Mario game Nintendo decides to make will be a 10/10 game..
