Respected technology analysis site Digital Foundry has gone hands-on with Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and the results are extremely promising. The publication says that the game manages 60fps without a single hiccup, unlike a lot of video games these days. The publication praises Nintendo for releasing a finely polished game and claims it contains some of the most attractive Wii U visuals to date. Here’s some snippets of what they thought about Captain Toad.

Basically, something simple can have a lot of depth, and be a lot of fun. Take Destiny for example. It tried to accomplish so many things at once, but ultimately failed in almost every regard. This game sets out to do only one or two things, and completely nails it. I’m not knocking Destiny (although I personally found the game extremely disappointing). Just saying, Developers should know what they can accomplish, and what’s realistic in terms of goals and development time. I think Smash Bros could benefit from this concept; I love SSB Wii U, but modes like Smash Tour were unnecessary.
Reminds me of resident evil 6. Trying to do like 5 different things at once made it a failure.

I’ve been playing the game today and its absolutely gorgeous plus solving the puzzles within each stage to obtain all the items is very satisfying. Really loving this one.

I mean, it would be nice to have all in one, and each has a niche, but if not this console, the next one, because of Nintendo’s sticking with a winning formula, the “mainstream” games will return… not worried. It does seem that Nintendo offers the most exclusive and diverse content, while the other systems offer PC revisions of the same thing
