The Weather Can Change The Outcome Of Battles In Xenoblade Chronicles X

Monolith Soft has released some new footage of Xenoblade Chronicles X which showcases the game’s day and night sequence as well as some of the weather conditions players will be faced with when the game launches later this year. Xenoblade Chronicles X director Koh Kojima has revealed on Twitter that while the game has the same feature of certain monsters appearing during different times in the game, this time around the weather could change the outcome of the battles. Here’s what he had to say about the newly added feature.

“The idea of having a different monsters appear in the fields at day and night was already a feature in Xenoblade Chronicles. In Xenoblade Chronicles X, we have also made it so that weather affects the battles.”

“It isn’t just a visual effect,” Kojima clarified, “but is fully featured in battle tactics. Tuning the weather change cycle was fairly hard work, though…”

  1. Honestly, from that video, the game looks REALLY unpolished. When is it supposed to be released? I don’t see it releasing anytime soon.

The character movements look clunky, the creature movements looked clunky, the environment had very noticeable corners and points and didn’t look natural and fluid.

They are going to fix all this right?

    1. The get the mechanics/coding/gameplay down to a T, then go back and tighten everything up visually before release. Nintendo rarely releases unpolished games, and I cant see that choppiness being in the final product.

    2. Could you please elaborate? Most I can see that is a lil off is the no water splash when character dives in the water. So far the monsters’ movements and characters seem legit to me unless there is a finer detail I’m missing?

    3. Dude, relax. The game is still in its final stages meaning it’s being polished. You’re judging a game from a YouTube video which everyone knows that YOUTUBE has a very shitty compiling system in submitting videos.

  2. I just hope that this game is good. I haven’t played the first Xenoblade Chronicles so I have no idea what it will play like. RPG’s are awesome imo and I think I’ll give this game a chance.

  3. This game is going to be amazing, and it’ll have everything Xenoblade had and more. Character customization is the selling point for me, and is something I wish we had in all games with the exception of a few storylines.

  4. Pretty good looking game. Only problem I had was there was no splash when he hit the water which looked bad.. But other than that it’s good

  5. Oh man, that little video was pretty good. The environments were very interesting. I will agree when the dinosaur turned it was like his whole body turned at once, with no fluid movement. Which to me, in this era of gaming is odd. The splash of water isnt that important, when the character was running through the water/river it left splashes as the camera went down. I think it looks great so far. For sure seller for some people im sure still on the fench on buying a Wii U.

  6. Weather already affected what creatures you would encounter on the field in the first Xenoblade. Some would only show up in the rain and others would only show up during meteor storms.

  7. Hmmmm the water doesnt splash when you dive and the dinosaur whole body moves in a turn. That’s how Xenoblade Chronicles was. Hopefully they fix it unless that’s how they want it to be. Something noticable from the first game.
