Japan: 3DS Sells 36k And Wii U Sells 6k

This week’s Media Create sales are now in from Japan. With Dragon Quest Heroes a new release in the region, it’s taken the charts by storm and sells just under 600k in combined units on the PlayStation 3 and 4. Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D continues to sell at a steady rate and drops into third place this week, while popular RPG Yokai Watch 2 rounds out the top 5.

Regards to hardware sales, the Nintendo 3DS’ total sales drops to 36k and leave it behind the PlayStation 4’s 46k in sales. As was the case last week, the Wii U brings in a further 6k in sales; a steady amount with no real boosts on the horizon until Xenoblade Chronicles X hits the console next month. Below you’ll find the top 20 software charts, followed by the best-selling hardware in Japan.

  1. 4). [PSV] God Eater 2: Rage Burst (Bandai Namco, 02/19/15) – 37,650 (271,829)

That drop is remarkable. This is while the 3DS is in cruise control.

      1. In a tiny bit of defence to the guy, it still is a big drop from what it was last week, dispite the brackets meaning total sales.
In huge defence to you Shuhei Yoshida, he played it out as the brackets meant sales last week, so you are indeed correct in your own right.
In defence of Bandai Namco, drops between launch week and the 2nd week are to be expected, no game in the history of ever has sold more copies in the 2nd week than in the 1st week.

    1. It’s funny how this happens:
When a PS4/Xbox One game gets rated low, you guys bash it to death

When a PS4/Xbox One game gets rated high, you guys say it sucks and is “just another shooter”

When a PS4/ Xbox One game sells well you guys say the gaming public is retarded and have to taste

    2. Rage Burst was bound to drop this week, especially considering the original game came out two years ago. It still sold well for an “enhanced” edition.

  2. 19). [Wii U] Mario Kart 8 (Nintendo, 05/29/14) – 4,898 (925,990)

The WiiU is making its mark on Japan one racing gem at a time. Mario kart 8 is about to reach a million sold in Japan while everyone else slumbers. Brace yourselves me mateys.

      1. I am not damage controlling anything. Read my next post after this. Those are great numbers for a WiiU title made by Nintendo. That means 95 percent of the profits of that game stay in house. XD.

          1. Is the WiiU not selling at a profit? It is. Are all its games apart from Sonic Boom working as smooth a butter? They are. So I go to sleep happy knowing I have God, nintendo and their franchises plus consoles intact. Work, studies, family and a great 2015 with record low gas prices :).

      2. He’s damage controlling??? I don’t think so. He is stating that Mario Kart 8 is closing in on 1 Million total in Japan. There’s no damage controlling about it, it’s the fact. I only see the Troll part of Controller and that’s you Mr or Mrs Anonymous…

    1. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

Greetings old friend, a lot has changed since you last made an appearance…

I’ve been promoted by the empire to an even higher rank because of my astonishing decimation of the Xbots infection in my area…

Some old foes and allies have left this base, probably because they were either traitors or were not strong enough for the wars…

Other than that, our homeworld keeps disappointing me…

      1. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis I dig the new title. I see the level of troll has become weak. More insults than wit. Who amongst the great ranks still remains? The 3DS new is doing marvelous things in the homeland. The WiiU needs better software from our forces in Nippon.

        1. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

Indeed, there are no more worthy trolls to fight these days…

The Wii U is just barely there…

            1. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

True but on this base, my rule has cast out the imbeciles under the guidance of the holy N…

            1. Nintendo Elite Commander Quadraxis

The only troll in here is you considering the only thing you ever do in here is bash me and others, so keep your mouth shut…

      2. Hi Commander. You still haven’t accepted my Friend Request on Wii U yet from a few days ago. Have you just not found the time to go onto Miiverse? Or did you just forget? Either way, the Friend Request is there, accept it when you find the time to. Thanks…:)

  3. Greetings Nintendo Commander, Alba, SICKR, dragon butterfly, and all other older posters; cannot forget Simply G etc…

With that said, this marks my return. Impressive numbers for the PS4. A healthy PS4 and WiiU in Japan simply means we are getting RPGs for both home consoles in the Mainland, that shall eventually get a world wide localization. 3DS (new) and old is still Emperor.

      1. You must be delighted that finally the PS4 is almost getting great games. Uncharted 4 might be the first one it received worth calling elite in the sense of well designed with matching game play.

          1. I agree. Neither did I. Uncharted 4, if it has gaming mechanics like Uncharted 2 then it shall be amazing. My WiiU and new 3DS are absorbing my time, but PS4 shall be added to my collection January 2016. Reasoning for my part is that Starfox and Xenoblade Chronicles X shall take up all my time. By then PS4 deals shall be plentiful.

    1. NPD doesn’t post to the public, so it either has to get leaked by someone in the game industry (not gaming site or mag as they don’t get the numbers) otherwise people are posting best guesses based on estimates of estimates.

    1. Wii U is underrated. It’s a fantastic console with fantastic, fun games. Yesm the Pro Controller should have been the Wii U’s main controller, but I love the Gamepad all the same. Heck, I’m using it right now to reply to you…

      1. It’s not underrated at atll. It got what it deserved. Lack of basic features, lack of 3rd party support, lack of power, constant droughts, lack of online mp in most of the games… not really desirable for a console in 2015.

  4. Xbox One-706. Not trying to bash the console, but Microsoft should have just said screw it with the Japanese Market and stayed away from it. Some say that Wii U is struggling in Japan, but at least it gets 4 figures+ on a regular basis, unlike the Xbox One, because most in Japan just don’t care, but hey, every little helps I guess, but there isn’t much that will be released on the console that will make Japanese people care for the console. Unlike the Wii U, 3DS, PS4/PS3 and PS Vita that will and does have games on it that Japanese people give a damn about. From Pokemon to Final Fantasy…

  5. [PS3] Dragon Ball Xenoverse (Bandai Namco, 01/29/15) – 8,249 (81,087)

I really need to see how servers were from the first week to now.

  7. Wow Ps4 sales are better than the 3ds. Now that is amazing to me. The Ps4 is really picking up steam in Japan. You cant really say Japan doesn’t like consoles anymore, especially if they are buying more consoles than handhelds..
