Hurray! We’ve got a brand new system update for the Nintendo 3DS which is just waiting to be downloaded. This time it’s not just a stability update, but it also brings a few new welcome changes. Nintendo has added a Home Menu Layout setting which allows you to save and load 8 layouts on the Home Menu. The notes say you can add different theme and software icon arrangements. There’s also been some changes to the Theme Shop with additional categories added. You can read all the changes in the latest update, below.
Changes to HOME Menu:
A Home Menu Layout setting has been added to HOME Menu Settings. Users can save and load up to 8 layouts of the HOME Menu with different theme and software icon arrangements
Changes to Theme Shop:
Additional categories have been added under “View More” for easier navigation of the Theme Shop
Improvements to system stability and usability:
Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience

Changes to HOME Menu Settings
amiibo Settings has been added to HOME Menu Settings. amiibo Settings allows users to register an amiibo owner and nickname, delete data written to an amiibo by supported software, or reset an amiibo*
*This feature will require a peripheral device scheduled to launch in 2015

I want Wii U themes!
Where in the Wii U plaza would it fit? I’d like themes too. It seems very un-nintendo to just slap an animated wallpaper with sounds and have the Mii’s run all over it. They’re probably considering this as we speak.
I’m think they could add certain designs to change the movement of the Miis and stuff to interact with certain theme exclusive objects. (like trees for example) Nothing I’m waiting for, but could be neat!

Just got the update today and the new layout configs are a nice touch. Looking forward to putting the amiibo settings to good use – especially once I get an amiibo (Fire Emblem) for the Code Name game.

Actually since the last two updates I’ve noticed that the system runs smoother; before, when I turned on the system I had to wait a fair amount of time to press “A” and begin to play, Now it’s soooo much quicker, so, that has enhanced my user experience
