Iwata Talks About Nintendo Theme Park Attractions And Hints At Nintendo “Films And Video Content”

Nintendo is taking on a lot of new projects, from amiibo to mobile games and the most recent, teaming up with Universal Theme Park for Nintendo themed attractions. At the latest Q&A from Nintendo’s financial results briefing, apparently Iwata says he was “surprised” by Universal’s “extremely detailed” plans for Nintendo attractions, and upon Iwata’s return he immediately met with Miyamoto to talk things over. Universal’s engineers have met multiple times with “veteran Nintendo producers” to get the ball rolling on Nintendo themed attractions. Hopefully they might come sooner than we think!

Also at the Q&A, Iwata hinted at the company potentially dabbling into “films and video content”, but doesn’t elaborate any further. What do you think this could mean? Nintendo movies? Series? Maybe we’ll get that alleged Legend of Zelda Netflix series! Whatever it is, it seems like Nintendo have got lots of big ideas and ambitions for the next few years, and it’s an exciting time to be a Nintendo fan.

1 word: Xeno-series anime. I don’t care how long they are-the full XC Movie w/all Cutscenes takes almost 10 hours-, but I want them so bad. Subbed and Dubbed with original actors please! Though they would probably just take all the VO lines form the game and only record a few extra ones (such as ones for any heart-to-hearts, such as the first on in Colony 9 with Shulk and Fiora, and the final one in Prison Island with Shulk and Fiora.)
Or just do a live-action version. The only problem with that is that not only would some of the stunts be impossible, but it might fail to capture the magic of the world.

    1. Zelda series, mario cgi movie, xenoblade anime.Seriously the zelda neflix got me pumped up but was dissapointed it was fake :(

Yes, yes Zelda shows! Especially since Aonuma will keep a close eye on it & make sure they don’t turn it into a joke like with that horrible Zelda cartoon.

A lot of anime DOES belong in the sewer, but definitely not all of it. I have watched some amazing anime series that were better than most live action films.

Anime is like every other source of entertainment. Some is fantastic and worth paying for and watching, while the rest is mediocre and only for certain fanatics or is garbage.

  2. Funny i always thought Nintendo should open up their own film division. Or at least partner up with partners to make a proper film/tv series. Nintendo has some of the most lucrative franchises in gaming that are long overdue

  3. I want a reboot of “Kirby Right Back at Ya!” and more Pikmin short films. Maybe a CGI animated film about Smash universe?

Oh look. Nintendo is hinting at getting into the video and film industry. I mentioned this would be a good idea a couple days ago and people flipped out.

Hopefully Nintendo is thinking of partnering with Disney.

    1. let’s hope they don’t partner up with Disney. I’m guessing they’re actually bring up competition.

    2. Ridley, the Angel of Death

Did you mention Zelda as one such franchise that would be awesome as an anime or live action? There are people that would definitely go psychotic if you were supportive of that. Anything that even comes close to giving Link a voice is apparently blasphemous to some of these Zelda fans. Or as I like to call them: fanatics. They probably hate the official timeline, too. ._.

  5. I want an animated Zelda with the same kind of artsyle of the games. Not some kind of weird artsyle or live action that fans can’t connect with.

  7. I would like a Zelda anime series with the style of the Palutena animations in Smash Bros. or Kid Icarus (which is the same)… It reminded me of Lost Canvas :3

Are you referring to the Super Mario Bros movie from the 90s? Don’t count on it. Only a cult following would like it but every actor involved would tell them to go fuck off since they had nothing but horrible experiences making the first one. Then there is the fact two of the actors in the original passed away. ;-; Then there is the fact the movie barely had anything that was true to the games. Yoshi was probably the only great thing about the movie as far as most of the world is concerned.

  9. Ridley, the Angel of Death

Which is it, Iwata!? Is that live action Legend of Zelda Netflix show happening or not!? I WANT TO KNOW!!! Along with the rest of us that would enjoy it that aren’t part of the people that think it’d be blasphemous to make such a thing.
