The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is coming to the New 3DS and the Wii U this summer, but there was a time when this seemed like nothing but a pipe dream, due to Nintendo not wanting the game on the eShop.
Blocking a game from sale, either because of an AO rating or some other reason, is the most effective way to try to censor a game developer. When it’s a chain store like Target taking an older game like GTA V off the shelf, it’s not really a big deal. However, it’s a different story when a console holder like Nintendo blocks the one and only path a game has towards being produced on a console. Situations like these more resemble outright censorship.
Nintendo of America’s Reggie Fils-Aime might agree with that statement. According to an exclusive interview between Destructoid.com’s Jonathan Holmes and Isaac creator Edmund McMillen, Reggie was in support for Isaac on 3DS way back in 2012, though it was former Nintendo indie developer Dan Adelman who was really pushing for the game to make it to the handheld. Now that the game is finally on the way, will you all be downloading a copy?

I mean, it’s kind of close. But in an age where there are numerous ways to share games stores, like Target, not stocking a game isn’t that heavy considering the long list of other retailers that sell the game. And I don’t think it’s denial of sale on the eShop way back is hurtful tot he game’s influence. I assume you’re also referencing the recent debacles concerning Hatred and it’s hurdle on Steam, as well as it’s de facto banning on Twitch. That comes close, but again, there are many many ways to share footage of the game, on youtube, or on other streaming sites. I understand people’s concerns, but censorship isn’t an issue yet for these more risque titles.
I was more interested in the article touching on the rating system, as a certain rating for movies and games can certainly highly affect its visibility to the public. And such influence by a rating system begs the question: What do we know about the people who actually sit in the room and judge these games or movies?

I think I may have played landstalker can’t remember, I was the nintendo guy on the block, my friend had sega, so I played a lot of his stuff. Sega channel was great. Don’t recall half the games I played though. As for drugs….far too late on that one daddy. I been dabbling with them for quite a number of years now. LSD can be quite scary, I felt like I was dead or something similar on it before. Definitely not a toy, but a very useful tool in the right mind. Set and setting are always key. I highly recommend if you do ever try either, make sure you have someone you really trust around, and NOBODY you don’t. No strangers either.
Anyway though I’m bout to get off work finally so I’ll have to continue this another day

What is binding of isaac exactly? Have heard the name before but still dont know what it is
From what I saw on Twitch streams, looks like a dungeon crawlers inspired by the 2D Legend of Zelda games. The main protagonist, Isaac, is a child who seems to be neglected by his mother, and the suggestion seems that everything he goes through is a metaphor. (Relatedly, as the name Isaac suggests, there is quite a bit of religion infused into the story; in fact, it starts with Isaac’s mother thinking God speaks to her, and apparently has child-rearing advice.) Key word being suggestion since, like Dark Souls, the writing makes for a seemingly minimalistic storyline that actually richly unfolds overtime as you unlock alternate endings, take more time to explore, etc.
