E3 Chief Says Those Skeptical Of E3 2015 Have Never Been To E3 Before

There’s some people in the video game industry, and a portion of gamers, that are skeptical of E3 as it’s usually the big event to show off the next Call of Duty and other major franchise sequels. No doubt there will be a bunch of sequels announced this month, but E3 chief Mike Gallagher says that those who are skeptical simply haven’t been to the event and been immersed in the atmosphere.

GamesBeat: There are still people who generally are skeptical of E3. They feel like it’s not the place for creativity. I’m not sure where they go for that, but it’s the same criticism people have of Hollywood — it’s blockbusters, it’s sequels, it’s not about games that are inspiring because of their creativity.

Gallagher: Those people have clearly not been to E3. When you walk in the building on Tuesday, it’s immediately apparent that you’re in one of the most creative environments on earth. It’s high tech. It’s immersive. It’s interactive. It’s not linear, like music or motion pictures. It’s get your hands on it, experience, and be a part of it. That’s unique to video games and it’s on display to the maximum degree at E3.

We have 273 companies that are filling 350,000 square feet and generating, in the last two years, more than 50 billion media impressions at the show. That’s creativity. It’s an incredible connection to those enthusiasts who want to enjoy the industry. Keep in mind, there’s only 7 billion people in the world and only 2.5 billion of them have internet access. That creativity is resonating directly with everyone who’s on the internet and enjoys video games.

The truth of the matter is shown in those numbers, in the sold-out show, in the engagement level we have. Just look at the medium itself. Twitch now has 100 million unique viewers per month on its website. That’s creative. That’s high energy. We have 1,500 new titles and products on display at E3. More than 100 of those haven’t been revealed yet to anybody.

        1. Some troll that did the rounds on here for a while last year, I don’t know much about him, but what I’ve heard, he was super annoying and has a Youtube channel where he rants, I think that he announced he was leaving here on that channel and no, I don’t have the name of the channel.

    1. Go back to your hole you faker. Remember, this week hasn’t been good for you, so one victory still doesn’t match up to the many you lost. And for those wondering, it was either him or that Puppet Master one that actually said that this isn’t a good week for him, on the U.K’s Top 10 Wii U games article…

  1. E3 hasnt been good in over 20 years lol you fanboyz amaze me sure there are a very few good, modren games but gameing died around 1995…..and the Wi u has the best controller of all time but nintendo needs to port all the wii vc games to wii u eshop to play on the gamepad and if you dont, like it u can, kiss my duke ho.

  2. The one thing I don’t really like about E3 is that usually when a new game is revealed, it takes forever for it to actually release. :\

    1. The thing that plaqued Nintendo E3 last year. So many Games that look fun and awesome, but ‘Sorry mate, you have to wait until next year to play them.’ This was still a great conference though.

  3. Of course he would say that, he’s the E3 Chief, he wants as many people to visit E3 as possible.

  4. Of all games for this post to mention…..Call Of Duty. Ugh! The game series that proves that MANY people have either brain damage, or horrible taste in games. If you’ve played one military game, you’ve played them all. War SUCKS!

      1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

Exactly. Their different opinion sucks. I remember the day when War games were few & far between. Now we got millions of sheep buying the newest game when they know full well it’ll be replaced with a new one next year. And the year after that. And the year after that. So on & so forth. So yes. When you’ve played one Call of Duty, you’ve played them all. I wouldn’t have such an issue with the series’ fans if a Call of Duty game sold millions every few years. So sadly a majority of them are indeed sheep.

Well if it wasn’t closed out from public attendance, HINT HINT, WINK WINK.

  6. I don’t think this guy knows the definition of creativity. He is mixing it up with popularity. If 500 billion people see the Mona Lisa, that doesn’t make it more creative, it makes it more popular; it is just as creative as it was if no one had seen it besides DaVinci.

  7. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

Odd. I had no idea that popularity=creativity. If that’s the case, then every Call of Duty game that has been made is creative… which is NOT the case. Anymore stupid things you want to say, dude, so you can fit in with the likes of Sakurai, Konami’s higher ups, Ubisoft, EA, the guy in charge of Splatoon’s development, etc? (These are just the ones that stick out in my head right now.)
