Famous Gamous sure knows how to hit you in the nostalgia — their flagship title, KEYTARI, lets players on the Wii U craft 8-bit tunes. In KEYTARI, players will be able to use a digital keyboard displayed on their GamePad to experiment with retro-crafted chiptune rifts. The game/application will be available this Thursday, exclusively on the Wii U eShop. Check out the trailer below:
Make Sweet 8-Bit Music With KEYTARI On Wii U EShop This Thursday

wooooo i gues
I don’t want to sound negative, but this has to be one of the most unnecessary apps I’ve ever seen.
If I wanted to make music I would do it on my laptop and not on the game pad or any sort of tablet.
Yeah, I know. Even if you just wanted to play something that already exists in 8-bit form, there are free conversors both online and in program form, for free. It really is a waste.
What about a good music maker? Can we get one of those? This is just a keyboard…
3DS has decent apps for 38-ish USD I believe.
I don’t know if I will…I could just use software I have on my laptop like Sony Acid or something…
This looks likes a mobile app… Nintendo i see what are you doing… You sick bastard…
I could see this being useful to children who want to make chiptune music and don’t have a computer of their own to work with.
But that’s about it. Famitracker is a much more fleshed out program based on this idea and it is FREE.
Oh, Nintendo I knew it! First Mario Maker, now this! If you want to hire us then just ask.
That’s *riffs, not ‘rifts’, dear lord.
And people actually make apps like these? Jesus, you can get some of the most resource heavy DAW platforms out there for relatively cheap (or free if you’re so inclined) and people actually expect others to pay for this crap?
