Nintendo Shuts Down Another Browser Based Game Boy Emulator

In some unsurprising news it would appear as though Nintendo of America has shut down yet another browser-based Game Boy emulator. The Game Boy Advance emulator was powered by Javascript and was playable within the browser, which clearly proved to be popular with internet users. The Game Boy emulator was hosted by popular developer platform GitHub and allowed users to play a number of games including Advance Wars and Pokemon Emerald. Here’s the message displayed by Nintendo of America.

Ladies and Gentlemen:
We represent Nintendo of America Inc. (“Nintendo”) in intellectual property matters. Certain material posted on the web site located at http://jsemu.github.io/gba/ infringes copyrights owned by Nintendo. This notice is provided pursuant to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 USC § 512 and GitHub, Inc.’s DMCA Takedown Policy.

Nintendo requests that GitHub, Inc., disable public access to the web site at http://jsemu.github.io/gba/. This web site provides access to unauthorized copies of Nintendo’s copyright-protected video games and videos making use of Nintendo’s copyrighted Pokémon characters and imagery in violation of Nintendo’s exclusive rights.

  1. Well, it would be nice if Nintendo allowed 3ds owners to purchase Advance Wars. I want the original for GBA hardcore.

  2. Emulation itself is fine, as long as you supply the ROM, the website was allowing people to play ROM’s that the user didn’t supply.

  3. Well duh. What did you expect. Probably some idiot pirates sitting in Brazil or another tax raped country thinking they can do anything. You’re still not getting games for free, nobody is. So shut up.

  4. Want to play gba games? Go on eBay buy a gameboy sp and some games or buy a wiiu for the gba vc games.
