A Custom Iwata Amiibo Is Up For Charity Auction On eBay

Artist, Gandakris, has customised a Mii Swordfighter amiibo into a touching tribute to the late Nintendo President – Satoru Iwata, who sadly passed away earlier this year. The custom Iwata amiibo is currently up for auction on eBay, and 100% of the proceeds will go to the non-profit children’s charity Child’s Play. The amiibo is already standing at $300.00 with 46 bids and still has eight days left before the auction ends.

Here’s the details of the listing:

“GandaKris has created what we believe to be the most touching, and inspirational custom amiibo ever created. In Iwata-san’s memory we will be donating 100% of the proceeds directly to Child’s Play, a non-profit charity dedicated to providing children in hospitals with toys and video games.

Child’s Play works in two ways. With the help of hospital staff, we set up gift wish lists full of video games, toys, books, and other fun stuff for kids. Child’s Play also receives cash donations throughout the year. With those cash donations, we purchase new consoles, peripherals, games, and more for hospitals and therapy facilities. These donations allow for children to enjoy age-appropriate entertainment, interact with their peers, friends, and family, and can provide vital distraction from an otherwise generally unpleasant experience.”

    1. I agree. I would buy an Iwata amiibo in a heartbeat and never take out of the package. It would strictly be a collector’s item. RIP Iwata-san

Except 100% of the profit goes to charity. He’s not making a single penny off of this, so I’m sure Iwata would appreciate what this guy is doing.

        1. Exactly. It’s easy to tell everyone that money is going to charity. But all the money from the sell is put directly into this guys bank account. Do you really believe he is going to take that money and then freely give it all away to charity? Odds are, no. He will keep the money I’m willing to bet.

I hope not. He specifically says 100% of the profit goes to charity which means he’ll get absolutely none of the money. If Nintendo sues this guy, wow. What assholes.

    1. Funny thing is, it’s easy for someone to make up a mockup account, bid really high and then not pay if they win. I’d say that could begin happening as this auction gets more publicity, I remember it happening with the protos.

It’s a customized Mii swordfighter amiibo. So technically, it is “real”.

  1. I would have thought the proceeds would go to cancer research since that’s what got Iwata, but that’s just me.

Either way, I respect the effort, dedication, and generosity of the creator.

So many people in here with so little faith in humanity. Not everyone on the internet is a lying scalper trying to weasel people out of their hard earned cash. I guess the scalpers on eBay got some of you people jaded about what’s actually for sale/bid on eBay. Or maybe ya see too much negative news & don’t see the amount of positive news floating about. *shrug*
