Everyone’s favourite video game analyst Michael Pachter has made yet another prediction. This time around Pachter isn’t convinced that the NX platform from Nintendo will be released in 2016. The reason he says this is because he is adamant that his contacts would have informed him if they had received a development kit. No one has mentioned it to him so he’s of the opinion that it’s probably going to be a 2017 launch.
“If any western developer has a dev kit, who knows me, I think they would have told me by now.”
“They wouldn’t tell me when the launch date was or what they’re working on, they’d just say ‘we have a dev kit’.
“I think the lack of dev kits that have been, as as I’m aware, suggests very little to know software support from third parties and if you don’t have software how are you going to launch a console?
“Nintendo’ history has been to announce a console around E3 and launch a year-and-a-half later. We didn’t get an announcement at this year’s E3.”
Here we go again.
GEE, WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CLUE PATCHLER???? Why hasn’t this idiot been kicked out yet?
pachter
Tell me how relevant Pachter is to have a paper written on him, seriously.
Pretty sure he said before it would be coming out fall 2016…. Does he always contradict himself?
Despite this guy is a total prick I think he’s right this time. At least we have 2 zeldas and star fox in 2016 while waiting.
“2 zeldas” wut
Twilight
Damn I thought he meant a new one. I’m getting it but not excited about twilight HD honestly. The effort going into that could have gone to a new game. If there was more to look forward to sure. But when you have a game drought, rushing out remakes isn’t the answer.
Same here. It’s nice to have, but I personally wasn’t asking for it. Especially if it’s just going to be an HD remaster and not a full-fledged remake.
I’ll wait until a list detailing the changes shows up before getting any excited about it.
Yea didn’t look like a full-fledged remake, I thought it looked pretty meh honestly when I saw the reveal. Wind Waker looks so much nicer in my opinion, and I was a lot more excited for that.
Worst thing being: WW didn’t need a full graphic overhaul as much as TP. That game has aged like fine wine.
As I said, it’ll be worth getting if they correct some of TP’s more blatant flaws (namely the low difficulty, the barren overworld and the terrible pacing).
Yea I can agree with all that, honestly as much as people love the “dark cool graphics style,” I think it was one of my least favorite, and most forgettable Zelda games.
Please don’t remind me of the barren overworld. D: I was so looking forward to it’s expansive Hyrule with big fields only to get what was practically a desert. The sad thing is the desert had more life in the form of those sand creatures than the grassy fields. *sigh*
Sad & ironic!
Windwaker HD was done by Nintendo. Twilight Princess HD is NOT done by Nintendo. It’s made by Tantalus. That’s why it doesn’t have the same treatment as Windwaker HD.
So what you’re saying is I shouldn’t waste my money. Thanks!
The problem with the reveal was that the reveal video was not in HD. Therefore it would look identical to the Wii version of Twilight Princess. I keep trying to tell people this…
It will look amazing in its final form. Nintendo is not going to half ass their highest selling Zelda game of all time.
It’s not the resolution that matters. It’s the detail and lack of bloom.
Luckily bloom is gone, but it isn’t much more detailed than the original…
It’s not Nintendo do making Twilight Princess HD. It’s Tantalus. So your point about them putting time into something else doesn’t really stay valid.
Ignore the word do. Uhg
But Nintendo is overseeing the remake. Nintendo didnt make DK Tropical Freeze either, but they made sure quality was never lost. Your idea that Nintendo is just handing off their highest selling Zelda game to some random developer, and crossing their fingers that they do a good job is a silly thought. Nintendo will put just as much time, if not more into Twilight Princess as they did with Windwaker. I can almost guarantee a hero mode is coming..
It’s obvious to people like me & you. Zelda is highly protected by Nintendo, even more than Mario at times. There is no way in hell they aren’t watching over the 3rd party.
Damn, I completely forgot lol
Regardless how he is loved by the community, he does have a point this time. No 3rd party is able to pull out a complete game in less than one year, even when the game in question is a port.
*how much he is loved
I was under the impression that many of those early Wii U ports were made in 6 months or so (not the competent ones like Deus Ex or Arkham City, but the rest).
There were some. I don’t think developers would like to do a rush project. They get bonuses based on reviews.
True that. Doesn’t stop them from rushing them in the end, though. Fast, easy money is better than no money.
You are right. They do what they are told and it better be by the deadline.
You’re may be right. But it’s more complex than it seems:
Due to NDAs, we’ll never know the truth, but it seems that Wii U dev kits were out since early 2011. But Nintendo upgraded the dev kits firmware/hardware a couple of times until early 2012, leading to obvious, several development problems and caveats. The final dev kit as it is known today was available sometime in Q1 2012, then allowing 3rd parties to finally optimize, finish and print the games around August-September-October 2012.
That may be in line with your impression that the 3rd party lineup games were ported pretty fast, although, as I said, the dev kits were already around for one year by that time, which allowed, at least, progress in the porting process to some extent.
If I’m not wrong, back in 2013, Alex Ward kind of hinted the story I just told you.
I’ve heard about that. It would certainly explain it, although I distinctly recall at least one of those ports being complete after 6 months of work or so. Can’t remember the game or the source, though, so I might be misremembering things.
Yeah, this doesn’t sound fully strange to my ears.
The final Wii U dev kit was just before E3 2012. When Nintendo showed off the Wii U console itself.
Majora’s Mask?
No shit, einstein. Everyone knows that.
As big of a joke and a fraud this guy is, I must say, this time I’m gonna have to agree with him. I myself don’t see the NX being released next year unless of course if it’s two separate platforms (a handheld and a home console with the handheld version being released first). Traditionally, Nintendo likes to release their home console successors 5 or 6 years after the predecessors and if they were able to toughen it out 5 years with the N64 and the GameCube they can do the same with the Wii U which is right at 12 million. I’m not saying it’s going to be a guarantee that the NX is coming in 2017 but judging from Nintendo’s past track record history, I see this being the most likely scenario but hey I could be wrong
NX Handheld 2016. NX Home Console 2017.
Again saying things everyone else already have. Except the 12 year old retards who believe in dumb rumours.
||The Master Race holds this peon in such a low regard that it’s amusingly pitiful……
Stick to the news and stop quoting this clown. He has as much legitimacy as you or I.
Alright!
Listen to Jack Parow.
anyone could have predicted that.
Eh, he’s not wrong.
For once I agree with him. NX won’t and really shouldn’t launch in 2016. 2017 is the better time for it to launch.
“Everybody’s favourite… ” is the start to your Patcher articles as the Star ship is the opening on every Star Wars film…
Much like star wars, I just let the words scroll past and don’t really take them in.

What about the 3DS successor? That’s what I’m waiting for. But I have a feeling it will come first
NX Handheld you mean? Should be 2016. E3 2016 Nintendo should reveal it.
Or, and if you somehow read this Patcher, please take note, they don’t tell you as you’re an annoying little shit who uses developers to get yourself attention. At least Kim Kardashian has a nice arse. You just have a punchable face.
Didn’t this dumbass already say this before? Did he really have to say it again?
Pachter is a fraud and a clueless f***. Mark my words people, the NX will launch in 2016. I think we’ll get a small bit of information in March(perhaps its real name) when Nintendo’s fiscal year ends, its reveal at E3 and then launched by Christmas. There’s a reason why the games have dried up and they haven’t shown us what’s coming next year beyond games we all ready knew about previously.
And MyNintendoNews, please stop giving this f***tard anymore free publicity to spew chunks of $hite out of his @rse.
This man is being pretentious af tho.
So if the NX doesn’t come out holiday of 2016, then it would come out holiday of 2017. Which would technically mean he doesn’t believe the NX will release for another 24 months. I don’t know, that seems like an awful long time to me…
>>>When it rains it pours>>>
Nobody told me about it so it’s not happening.
They’re not giving you a DEV kit because you’re so ANNOYING!!!!
Miyamoto says “Don’t give Patcher a developer’s kit! He’ll give us a complete diagnostic of the system and I am not in the mood right now!”
