Famitsu Reveals More Zelda Twilight Princess HD Details

The contents of this week’s edition of Famitsu have leaked online and they reveal more about the long-awaited remake of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii U. If you scan in the Wolf Link amiibo then you’ll be entitled to play through a new dungeon titled “Thorough Battle: Trial of the Beast” which is presumably the same dungeon as the recently announced Twilight Cave. If you manage to make your way through the additional dungeon then you will obtain a wallet titled the “Bottomless Wallet” which can hold 9,999 Rupees. As was previously mentioned you can use a variety of existing Zelda amiibo with the game:

  • Link and Toon Link fully replenish arrows
  • Zelda and Sheik completely restore hearts
  • Scanning Ganondorf means you’ll receive twice as much damage from enemies.

You can also use the Wolf Link amiibo to transfer some data from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess across to the brand new Legend of Zelda adventure coming to the Wii U sometime later this year. The only way to move across the data is via the Wolf Link amiibo so it certainly sounds like something that’s worth picking up.

    1. That’d be pretty cool if you could have 4x the damage. It might actually make it necessary to have 20 hearts in the final battle. I still can’t believe Zelda games use 1/4 1/2 damage for most enemies when you’re stacked with hearts. Just start with 5 hearts and every attack is at least 1 heart. Maybe half hearts in the first or second dungeon but scale it up from there.

It’s a shame the difficulty of Zelda games these days are capped at the first 2-3 dungeons & never scale any higher afterward.

      2. Was Twilight Princess really as easy as everyone says it was? I haven’t played it since it first came out, so I don’t remember. I remember the plot twist and stuff at the end, but not much else.

You must have been an amateur when you played Twilight Princess if you didn’t think it was too easy. If you’ve gotten more skilled, go back & play the original TP so you can see just how easy it really is.

      4. I don’t remember it being any easier (or harder) than any other Zelda game. I do remember feeling let down by the fishing aspect in the game. I felt it could have been a much deeper fishing experience, but they didn’t give any effort. But that has nothing to do with difficulty.

  2. Ok, now everybody will call me troll or worse but what the heck! Is Nintendo serious??? All the new content is locked behind Amiibo!!! Link and Zelda amiibos are ok but Ganondorf and Wolf Link have new features lock in them, WTF? This is bad, really bad, I mean, if I want a very difficult challange I have to pay 13 € for Ganondorf, if I want to erase one of the worst flaw of TP, rupees never fit in your pocket, I have to buy the bundle? Now I really don’t know if I want this game anymore, I’m sorry for be this negative but I don’t want the future of Nintendo to be like this, all the features ready for launch should be accesible with no damn paywall!
P.S: I know that probably the ganondorf amiibo isn’t hero mode, is like an extra level of challange, but why I have to pay fot that? TP is so easy to begin with, I love the idea of a super hard mode, and I have to pay 10+ € just for that? O__o
P.P.S: Sorry if my english isn’t perfect, I’m not that good at foreign language and I’m quite angry to!

    1. Do a three heart run then. You can already make Zelda games challenging without extra content. Also, a separate scan showed a wallet that capped at 2,000, so I imagine that would be accessible without amiibo.

      1. Let’s be honest, the game’s not going to reward you for beating it on hero mode. This is Nintendo, the company that touted getting 1 million coins in NSMB2 would be this awesome “challenge” and all you got was a different wallpaper for the start screen of the game. And some got a “certificate” which from what I can find is just an image with your face on it showing people you got the 1 million coins.

I do get “implented challenge over user-restricted” but if you want the hardest challenge it’s almost always going to be something the user does to hinder themselves because the developers aren’t going to know (or implement) all the different combinations possible. Though it is odd that the 3 heart challenge isn’t it’s own mode by now given it’s so well known and easy to implement (unless there’s a part where it’s impossible to progress without 4 or more hearts).

        Like

      2. Probably not, but the game acknowledging that the mode exists in the first place is more rewarding than just making it up in your head. If I can choose between a mildly challenging mode and a difficult self-restriction, I’ll always opt for the latter. It might not be as challenging, but at least it feels like completing another aspect of the game instead of just doing it for bragging rights.

Think of speedruns, for example. Doing a speedrun in a series that encourages it (Metroid or Resident Evil, for example) feels much more rewarding than just doing a speedrun in a game that doesn’t (Final Fantasy or similar games not designed to rely on execution).

I agree that the three-heart run should be its own thing by now, it wouldn’t be difficult to implement at all. Add Nuzlocke to Pokémon while we’re at it.

      3. But in that image the rupees count isn’t maxed, if you look at the number 2000 it isn’t green, so isn’t the max number Link can carry, but maybe you are right, I hope, maybe there is another wallet… about the three hearts run, I don’t know, if tou think about it you screw exploration, because every piece of heart is something you don’t want so you have no reward for exploring levels, mmmhhh… Is not for me.

  3. Using amiibo to replenish heart/ make the overall game easier. Exactly what I was afraid of, and I’ve stated it before. I feel like this trend of making games easier won’t stop any time soon, unfortunately.

      1. I don’t know. I can feel Nintendo getting greedy with ammibo. It was cool in Smash, but at this point, it’s interfering with the actual game by breaking off a simple challenge mode button into an amiibo. If this type of amiibo stuff gets in the way, I think I’ll be out soon. Already signs of tuining Zelda U will that Wolf Link amiibo.

      2. “It’s interfering with the actual game”
No it’s not. Hero mode included already does x2, and we don’t know if Ganon’s ability will stack that to x4 or not. As for the dungeon, it’s what I thought, a very tame and lame use. It’ll no doubt be a room with a few enemies and a giant wallet at the end… the most useless and boring item to get in any Zelda game. A $2,000 wallet (in the game) is all you need, and it’s really only useful for the Magic Armour quest and that’s it.

I do agree that I’m worried about Zelda U. If it’s the same type of lame uses like in TP, fine. But I don’t want 12 cool things spread across individual amiibo and screw up the single player experience.

A damn shame the downside to the outfit is you won’t take damage & will thus make the dungeon you use it in easy as fuck. But that’s what copying the file is good for. One file to breeze through the dungeon & one file to actually have a challenge.

    1. Well, a lot of treasure chests have rupees in them you can’t collect because 80% of the time your wallet is already full, so yes, I think is usefull; if I’m right you have this bottomless wallet because you can transfer rupees to Zelda U, so they “fix” the abundance of money in TP by letting you collect them for the future.

  5. Wow, I emailed Nin about the soundtrack being exclusive to GameStop which contradicted their statement in November2015’s Direct… and here’s the response I got:

“Thank you for taking the time to write to us with your feedback regarding The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD’s pre-order Soundtrack. I apologize for the delay in our response.

We can certainly understand your thoughts about retailer availability and want you to know how much we appreciate you sending them in. We also want to assure you that your comments will be added to our records for game-related promotions, which will be made available for the appropriate departments at the company to review and thoughtfully consider for future promotions.

    Sincerely,

    Nintendo of America Inc.
    Shane Schaefer”

Literal trash… Nothing useful. I don’t even want to respond to them…
