Nintendo President Outlines His Strategy

Tatsumi Kimishima has outlined his strategy as president of Nintendo and says that young staff including developers are the key to the company’s future success. He also said that he wants the developers to be better known and public-facing. Kimishima says My Nintendo will also be vital to Nintendo’s success and the company wants to create a connection with its large customer base. He also clarified that the Quality of Life initiative is currently on the back burner.

Kimishima: Yes, when I became President, I said that it was my role to continue the strategy established under the prior management. From this point, we need young people to come in as a new generation and give lots of new ideas. It’s important to create an organization in which they can thrive. To do so, we’ve established a system in which many people with potential can play active roles. It may be hard to see from outside the company, but our organization has changed greatly. We also want more game developers to become known, so we’ll be sending more out to be public-facing. As for strategy, our hardware/software game business is central, but we’re integrating smart device activities into our actual business, and will derive synergies between them. My Nintendo is an important part of that. We want to create connections with customers by having them become My Nintendo members. Also, although QOL wasn’t asked about we’re not at the stage for the sleep and fatigue [sensor] to become a product, so it won’t be released (as a product) by March. We do, however, think that we can do something in the area of QOL, so we will continue to consider expanding into this field.

  1. I was uncertain at first of whether Kimishima could step in and become a good president but now the more I read about his strategies and ideas I’m now leaning towards to knowing that he’ll be the president that only Nintendo fans but gaming fans have been waiting for with no disrespect at all intended at the late great Satoru Iwata who was a fantastic president in his run. Kimishima seems to be more business minded and more focused on the current and future gamers and on grooming the next future Nintendo global president and I really think we need a president like this in this day and age

This guy sounds like the best thing to happen to Nintendo since Miyamoto.
Finally a man who understands what needs to be done.

    1. All he is doing and talking is what Iwata was already planning for Nintendo. None of that what is happening was created from the death of Iwata .

And the best thing since Miyamoto? Seriously? Sakurai, Aonuma, Iwata and all of the developers don’t exist? lol

      1. Dude, no one is saying that the NX concept nor the mobile venture was Kimishima’s idea, we are just saying his ideas about putting the younger Nintendo developers in the spotlight more and grooming them to become future leaders of the company is exactly what Nintendo needs. That can’t be stuck in the past anymore because times are changing and Kimishima-san knows that and yeah, the NX may have been Iwata’s idea but that doesn’t mean that Kimishima-san couldn’t tweaked it to make that idea better. Please give the man some credit

        1. dudes….we dont even know if the NX will be a good product XD the whole portable/home console is just the most accepted rumor, it can still be a Philiphs CDi 2.0

  3. If he’s allowed to, Kimishima does seem like he would make the Mario series fresh again. Or is it up to Miyamoto? Well, Miyamoto himself did say that he wants to freshen up the series, but we gotta see.

By the way, is the Metroid Prime Trilogy worth it? I actually never played a 3D Metroid game.

  4. Sounds good. What I mostly want from Nintendo though is a real account system, so when I buy a new console i can just log in and re-download my digital games. I just sold my 2nd Wii U as I couldn’t log in with my NNID and therefore couldn’t get my games back from my 1st Wii U. I just couldn’t bring myself to buy any new digital content even though there is lots that I really would want to have. And no, I don’t want to have to call Nintendo to get my games back, that is bullcrap. Once a proper account system is there I will happily buy digital games again. I am hopeful for the NX.

Yes. See this corrects where past nintendo fucked up badly. They relied to much on old bitches. Trying to stick to the old Nintendo formula. Well after awhile people get sick of the same formula. That’s why companies try to change it up. New genrations will always have different taste than that of the oldies. Wii U im using you as an fucking example. Also take that annoying bitch miyamoto out the development room already and let those young developers who he supposedly fucking “mentored” finally take over. He’s lost his fucking touch. Those projects he’s currently working on were a hot pile of horse shit. Developers have mentioned that he like an nagging hag who shuns everyone’s idea’s to have shit his way. Those young developers need to man up grow and grow some fucking balls and slap that old bitch. Sure he’s an legend but new legends can’t grow and prosper with him around fucking shit up. Starfox zero! If no online dogfights is inserted. Then fuck that game. I’ll wait for a new and better made starfox game. I want my first fucking starfox to wow me and maybe make shit myself afterwards when I’m done playing. 😤😧 Im finally done hoes.

    1. So we might actually see the first Nintendo console with terrible first party games and good third party games?

Just kidding, but seriously, if you actually ignore what Iwata did for Nintendo by actually saving the company then you’re kind of blind. Sure the Wii U was a flop but it still gave us some amazing games as well as some interesting concepts that Sony then went back on with the Vita to PS4 off screen play.

New Nintendo seems like they’re trying to be more like Sony but with some ACTUALLY good games rather than some half baked games like Killzone or The Last of Us: Rehashed Edition

      1. 🎭Mr. Boss Ass Bitch💊

Judging by the last few 1st party titles probably so. The only wii u games I’d probably remember is: Xenoblade X, Splatoon, Smash4, Hyrule warriors, Bayonetta 2, Probably Mario Maker and maybe mario kart 8 ( even though I’ll always remember double dash) I wasn’t saying.”Oh Nintendo! Please become the NeXt fucking Sony.” No I’m simply saying, get the the fuck out of the wii era. Let new creator’s shine that have that miyamoto dizzle and uniqueness. Like if miyamoto keeps holding their hand, they’ll never fucking grow. Let them spread their ideas and create a new ip. Something that’ll maybe become the next Legend of Zelda. A series that fans would die for. Something so fucking epic it’ll surpass the zelda franchise and have people laping consoles just in order to play it. I must admit that splatoon wouldn’t be where it is today if miyamoto wasn’t there to guide those dumb bitches.

I never liked Nintendo under Iwata. The only thing I liked that he personally came up with is the fact that when you close the DS it puts it to sleep. That’s the best feature ever. But I never even care for DS until 3DS and not because of the “3D” just because off all the amazing games it has.

  7. “From this point, we need young people to come in as a new generation and give lots of new ideas. It’s important to create an organization in which they can thrive. To do so, we’ve established a system in which many people with potential can play active roles.”

This is why I feel that Kimishima is going to be Nintendo’s greatest president.
He is actually focusing on bringing the modern age to Nintendo by giving younger people to get the opportunity to work with Nintendo and this could also mean Nintendo’s NX might not flop if they keep this up.

  8. Yeah, I have no trouble trusting that Nintendo is in good hands. I definitely see this new president taking initiative and applying a solid gameplain. He has good ambitions so far, but he’s still respectful to Iwata’s vision. I’m personally really glad that quality of life thing is shelved for now, and I think This new president understands that gimmicks are not what people want, and that a step towards a solids game console is for the best.

I do miss Iwata; he had undeniable charm and was very open and humble for a company president. I’m really looking forward to Nintendos future without worrying about them doing the right thing; can’t wait to see what future developments are in store <3
