Today, Japanese gamers should be celebrating the release of the Nintendo 3DS which is now 5 years old. Nintendo’s current hand-held system was released back in February 26th, 2011 and since then we’ve been granted an impressive back catalogue of games, not just from Nintendo but from third party developers as well. If you have a Nintendo 3DS system and you’re wondering which games to buy for the platform then check out this list.
Happy Birthday To Nintendo 3DS Which Turns 5 Years Old Today In Japan

For all you early adopters,
Day 1 without games: Happy with augmented reality games.
Month 5:Too many fighting games at launch. Street fighter, BlazBlue, Dead or alive, Tekken
I remember being amazed to play Metal Gear solid 3 and Resident evil on this thing.
It was a great run, an awesome success story. And if a new handheld were to be released next year, I’d be okay with that. I’m ready for something new.
Lol I forgot about that face raiders game and those AR cards. They were fun for like 10 minutes. Oh well, at least we got that ambassador certificate. :l so yeah, suck it late adopters.
I was happy with AR games… for like under an hour. Then I was sad. Oh wait! I got Samurai Warriors Chronicles on the same day I got the 3DS so I was having hella fun! And then I became a fan of the Warriors franchises from Koei Tecmo! @.@
Dynasty Warriors 5 made me become a fan. Lol.
Happy less than 4 years wiiu hopefully Nintendo puts more effort into you and then gives you a awesome send off
5 years huh, yup it’s winding down, chances are Pokemon Sun/Moon is the last big hitter before the NX Handheld come out. Just wish they put Sun/Moon as a launch game on the NX Handheld, would have been a better business choice. Now the NX Handheld’s launch will likely be a repeat of the 3DS’s launch…and Wii U launch lol. Maybe a Mario game will be there at launch but not much else.
I remember when I got my 3DS. At first I was delighted with it, but it didn’t take long for the lack of software to really tell. I’ll be honest, I thought I’d invested in a system that was dead before it began, especially with the launch of the Vita (which was going to be the same price as it) on the horizon. Then the price drop happened, then Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7, and the rest from there is history. It has been a great console with many great games, and I think another one (or two if you like) is about to be announced tomorrow.
It’s too bad they didn’t flip the Wii U around like they did with the 3DS. It has some great games that are definitely worth purchasing. I won’t say that Wii U doesn’t have any good games, because that’s not true. But too little, too late. Could have been so much better for the console.
I concur- if it had some of the heavy hitters it has now back on launch day, things could have been so so different, yeah?
I will say that Xenoblade Chronicles X alone is a good enough reason to get a Wii U no matter when- it’s nearly perfect.
Well, good to hear you’re enjoying it. I’ve never played it before, so I can’t really say whether it’s good or not. It’s probably guaranteed I would like it if I played it though. I do love rpgs. Lol.
Then buy it
Every time I see this blue colored 3DS, it makes me SICK that I bought the boring black one on launch. All because of my ex girlfriend. She had the blue one, so I got the black one so that we’d each have a different color. One of my big mistakes of life. It also makes me sad that the 3DS is 5 years old now, and I only have 12 games for it. I was never too into handheld gaming.
Happy 5 years old, Nintendo 3DS.
I like how the 5 looks on here. I hope the font never changes! Speaking of, I wonder what font this even is because I love how it does the numbers. It’s fun to type out n3DS with this font.
