Japan: Pokemon 3DS Virtual Console Sells 69,234 Download Cards At Retail

We all knew that Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow would be a success on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console, but just how much of a success may well come as a surprise. The games have topped the Famitsu charts as Nintendo Japan sold 69,234 download cards at retail during the first week of the game going on sale. This has put the game in pole position!

    1. They’re 20 years old, of course they can’t. And even when people do manage to find physical copies, they’re always way more expensive than the Virtual Console versions lol.

        1. Mine still works and saves. For how much longer though is another story, I know one day I’ll turn it on in my GB and the data will be gone! Goodbye Mew!

          Noooooooo!!!

            1. No, it’s my original Blue version cartridge. Iv restarted the game several times on it but it’s never forgot or erased data. Now my Silver cartridge did lose data and doesn’t hold data for long periods of time. Does that make sense?

                1. To be fair, I’ve tried to keep it in as best shape as I could. Always careful, always in a case. Also, I started the process of moving Pokemon from SoulSilver all the way up to Aqua Sapphire. It’s been a few month process, I haven’t touched it in months…

            2. Thinking back, I wish so much that I could have some how saved that data of the very first play through of the game. To see my mistakes, how my play style changed, types used, so on. That would be a very worthy save.

              1. Weird. Is the model used in the original cartridges more durable? I replaced the batteries of my Gold and Crystal carts, but never got around to do the same with my Yellow cart. I assumed they’d use the same model, if not a more durable one in GSC due to the internal clock.

        1. It’s just a gray cartridge with a green sticker you know. Unless you get all the other JP versions it wont look any fun. But they are around 3-5 bucks if you’re interested. ebay might have a set but they charge you more unless you find a good selller.

          1. Yeah I just want them for the nostalgia factor. I love art, something’s have sentimental value just because of how large a part they play in our life’s. For me, Pokemon is definitely one that stands the test of time, even if I don’t like more than half of them. : )

Say it, I dare you. :D

    2. Well the VC games have the advantage that you can later transfer your pokemon over to the next pokemon sun and moon through pokebank, which makes them so much more valuable IMO. Plus with the VC games you don’t have to worry about an internal game battery running dry so you won’t lose your save file.
