Sales data from Twitter user ZhugeEX has confirmed that the 3D Super Mario games have accounted for more than 42 million unit sales on Nintendo home consoles. The data applies to consoles as early as the Nintendo 64 and as recent as the Nintendo Wii U.
Currently, Super Mario Galaxy is the highest 3D Super Mario game.
Overall, the 3D SUPER MARIO games account for more than 42 million unit sales on Nintendo home consoles.

wait galaxy outdid super mario 64??? Now that is a game to sell well.

Galaxy was cool. Though I didn’t appreciate it until I played through it when I first got my Wii u. I never got it before cuz it looked so different from Mario 64 and that’s what I was expecting.
I like Nintendo because they always try new things. Even when you want them to make the same thing sometimes.
So 3D World is the lowest. That makes me a bit happy. It’s overrated.
Take this as a sign Nintendo. Make Super Mario Galaxy 3!
I’m kinda sad that 3D World didn’t sell very well. Mainly because I feel that the sales had a lot to do with the popularity of the Wii U. It’s definately not my favorite 3D Mario, and I don’t like to count it as such since its way more linear and and different than other 3D titles, but there are so many Wii U games that don’t get the credit they deserve because console sales of the Wii U >_>
