SEGA Now Publishing Atlus U.S.A. Games

Following the acquisition of Atlus by SEGA the company has announced that it will be publishing Atlus U.S.A games going forward. There’s no need to worry though as everything will be the same as it always was to the consumer and the Atlus brand will remain intact on the packaging and promotion of the products. SEGA says that the company and Atlus will still act independently.

“Since Atlus U.S.A.—renowned for the award-winning Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, and Etrian Odyssey franchises—integrated with SEGA of America, the ATLUS expertise has allowed SEGA to localize and publish popular Japanese titles in the west, including the Yakuza series, Project DIVA series, and more.”

    1. Actually Atlus is more of a PlayStation developer. Most of their games are on PlayStation consoles and handhelds with a few Nintendo handheld titles. It’s more likely Sega will publish more PlayStation 4 and Vita titles than 3DS or Wii U titles. Sega does favor Sonic games on Nintendo platforms a lot though, not that that’s much to be excited for lately (it’d be nice to see that change though).

      1. Correction, there’s only one Wii U title which a multiplatform w/PlayStation 4, Vita and 3DS. They have more 3DS titles than I thought but they have far more among the PlayStation platforms. So you can probably expect some 3DS titles but likely not Wii U.

  1. Hopefully this marks the end of Atlus’ cringy dubs, ha you wish, but at least we may be able to play with Japanese voices and Eng subs like in most SEGA releases. They should have enough cash.

  2. I love Atlus and I’ve been a Sega fan since the Genesis days so this is great news. Hopefully it’ll mean even better localizing in games! Most of the Atlus games I play are on PlayStation platforms though. They certainly seem to favor PlayStation over Nintendo. The Wii U only has one game by them, Citizens Of Earth (which is multi-platform) but the 3DS has quite a few. Here’s hoping we see more great games in the future!

  3. As long as Sega treats them in the same way Disney treats Marvel, I’m perfectly fine with them taking over publishing rights for Atlus games. In other words, don’t pull a god damn Nintendo & we’re cool, Sega!
