90s Arcade Racer Seems To Be Cancelled For Wii U

The promising 90s Arcade Racer which was in development for a number of platforms appears to be canceled on both the Wii U and PC. The game’s website still lists the old-school racing title for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 but the listing for Wii U and PC appears to have vanished. It will be interesting to see how this move goes down with the backers.

  1. If you go to there comment section, it seems they just robbed everyone. It’s been 6 months since an official update, and the game’s release date was Nov. 2013. With them announcing that they just needed extra time to polish the game. These poor idiots were robbed.

      1. They have 2 websites. It is a debate going on which one is correct and or was edited most recently.

    1. Even if dropping a Wii U release seems like a smart idea financially, try imagining how people who backed it in order to get it on their Wii U feel now that they’re not getting what they bought in for.

This will be Project: Cars all over again.

      1. At this point, putting all the blame on the developer of this game is silly since Nintendo had a part to play in all of this by announcing the NX way too soon back in 2015. They pretty much railroaded any games, not just their own but 3rd party ones as well, being developed for Wii U. If Nintendo isn’t going to fully support Wii U anymore, why should we honestly expect 3rd parties to do the same? Most were already antsy about Wii U to begin with so everyone should have seen something like this coming from a mile away. Is the developer to blame? Yes. Do they deserve all the blame? No.

        1. While I don’t disagree with your points, I still think it’s unfair for everyone who backed it *specifically* for a Wii U version- it may be the only version they could have gotten. Those individuals are now out whatever amount they paid for the game- I don’t know what, if any, perks they get with it (like how those who donated $50 or more to Skullgirls were treated to a voice mail message from one of the game’s VAs) and they may still get those, but they’re probably nothing compared to the actual product, the thing they’d have wanted most out of all of it.

I’m an individual who backed something once and walked away disappointed with the results, so I kinda feel for people affected by this.

      2. If anything, this is just another example of Nintendo keeping too quiet about their plans with their 3rd party partners.
