A demonstration of Paper Mario: Color Splash was held at this year’s Hyper Japan Festival. In the demonstration, they show off Bloo Bay Beach and The Crimson Tower. We’ve included new information that the demonstration revealed, as well as a video of the demonstration itself. Feel free to check them out down below.
- You can buy cards while in battle
- “Lots of references to Super Mario Bros. 3 in the game”
- Huey was turned from a 3D character to a 2D one by Mario
- Up on the control pad to talk to Huey
- Y to use the cutout ability
- Finding hidden Luigi locations gives rewards
- Messing up the Action Command in battle also means losing a lot of paint at once (while doing perfect Action Commands will reward Mario with some paint)
- 1-UP Mushroom is used to restore paint reserves
- Action Commands for Things use the touch screen
- Things become “squeezed” into cards immediately (no need to backtrack to turn them into attacks)
- The main town is called Port Prisma
Still sounds awful.
The game looks amazing though. It’s such a shame!

Why the hate on this? Still don’t understand
If you go back to PM2 and compare it to these last two PM games, they took a ton of individuality out of the series. Each individual character (down to individual Toads) had unique appearances and personalities, names, and so forth and it seems like they’re draining the personality and character out of the series.
There are lots and lots pf cute, fun, and silly things in this game! But it’s not as great as it could be. We’re looking back and seeing things that there could be in this game that aren’t there and that’s why people are unhappy.
As a casual Paper Mario fan, I don’t get it either. I’ll be purchasing this most likely. Looks fun.

I’m not gonna automatically poop all over this like everyone else is but i’l wait a bit before buying and if it’s bad/leans too close to Sticker Star then i’ll let them know how I feel with my wallet. That said if we can get that TTYD remaster i’ll buy the hell out of that and hopefully they’ll get the message. If not i’ll only be buying future installments used/way down the line after it’s price has dropped like crazy…
More Color Trash news. Hopefully like with FedshitForce, once we get a release date, we’ll see less news about this abomination.
