Ubisoft CEO Says NX Is A “Fantastic Machine” and “It’s Really A New Approach”

In a recent interview with GameSpot, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot offered his opinion on Nintendo’s upcoming console.

“The new Nintendo [console] is a fantastic machine. It’s really a new approach, it’s really Nintendo, [which is] coming with something new again. We love it.”

Guillemot also advised that Ubisoft are “working on some [other] projects” for the NX, but did not elaborate further on what this would entail.

GameSpot also asked Guillemot why the company had so much faith in Nintendo and he advised about the effect new systems have on consumers:

“What we see is, players are more open when new hardware is coming. So we have the chance to come with something we have never done before, because we know that if we are the first there, people will try our game and maybe we’ll be able to get into that new genre,” he explained. “As our people wanted to do a game like ZombiU, they were happy they could just use the Wii U to do it. For us, a machine is a tool of expression, but when everything become stable it’s less open to innovation. We always want innovation.”

“However, if you try something a little new and it’s not perfect, you come back quickly to what you know and works. As a gamer, if you change to new hardware, you have no references, so you’re looking at what people are saying are [the best games] and then trying them.”

“But if you have an [established] machine and there’s all the experiences you know on there already, you know you’re going to miss some of those to try something new, so you’re less inclined. For us, we know opportunities to try something new are a lot more rewarding when it’s a new machine.”

    1. If it sold better they probably would’ve stuck with it. Either way from what I’ve seen Ubisoft next gen efforts seemed very overhyped like Watch Dogs and The Division.

      1. I’ve starved him of his insatiable appetite of planets. He is weak and has no strength to fight any more. I will lead Nintendo to its doom.

  1. Best part of this is that he says “console,” singular. Even more fuel to the hybrid fire. I’ve stopped caring for the though.

    Rayman Legends.

    #NeverForget

  2. Nintendo please……..just show this thing already. This is just getting ridiculous. This platform better be something out of this world for you guys to keep this tight of a lid on it. I really wanna see it so come on Nintendo…….stop doing your loyal supporters like this lol

    1. The GC was more powerful than the PS2 + could play Pokemon, and the Playstation brand is still here. Don’t think much would change if a similar situation applied to the NX in relation to the PS4, especially when considering Nintendo is bringing out their next gen console mid-cycle, the PS4 is 3 years old already.
Normally, it should be a given for the NX to be more powerful than the PS4, what Nintendo should be aiming for is an NX that’s somewhat capable of keeping up with Sony’s next gen console, the PS4 was supposed to be the WiiU’s competitor, not the NX’s.

  3. Rayman Legends. #NeverForget. Ubisoft let me tell you that you need to change to U be hard cuz you keep fucking yourself in the butt.

    1. Pretty much exactly what is going on right now. Nintendo is building the hype and allowing certain people to talk about it. They want us to anticipate the arrival of the new console, but are also looking to surprise everyone.

Kimishima is going to drop the NX-bomb and it’s going to blow up the internet. (temporarily of course)

          1. True, however Ubisoft only believes in the console when they want it to benefit them. Only one thing matters: If NX makes money, regardless if it has the specs of a Windows 95 computer. Of course there’s nothing wrong with wanting the $$$, but at least have the decency to own up to their hypocrisy (yes, yes, they can’t do that because they want people to buy their afterthought games (◔_◔)).

Sorry, guess I’m used to the dicks of the internet. You can’t have an argument with someone unless they attack you in some way ╮( ̄~ ̄)╭

  4. I think I’ve seen this movie before… Oh yeah! They said the same about Wii U then dumped it when things got hard. Of course, from a business standpoint, I don’t blame them & they made the right call. Personally, you were assholes for ditching right when the console needed you fuckers the most! I’ll never trust you guys on a Nintendo console again! Now excuse me while I wait in anticipation for the Ezio trilogy to release on PS4! xP

  6. I hope the Assassin’s Creed series will get NX ports, and not skip the NX like they did after the first two on Wii U. Assassin’s Creed III and IV on Wii U were the first games in the series that I played, and fell in love with. I might have never played them (or got a PS4 later) if those games were never released on Wii U back then.
