We know for a fact that work has commenced on Beyond Good & Evil 2 over at Ubisoft. The news was confirmed by the company a few weeks back. Now Let’s Play Gaming claim to have fresh information about the game which their source has said is a reboot rather than what we expected to be a traditional sequel. What is also interesting is the source reconfirmed that it’s an exclusive for the Nintendo NX and that a CG trailer for the game will be showcased at the platform’s reveal. Ubisoft is apparently planning to release the game in 2018.
it will partially retell Jade’s origin tale from Beyond Good & Evil, flesh out Peyj’s backstory, then continue to extrapolate on the ending of the original game. The intention is that players who have not played the original will be able to jump into the new game, which will feature a subtitle rather than a number at the end of its title, and understand both who Jade is and what drives Pey’j. It also seeks to provide closure to fans of the original wondering what the cliffhanger at the end meant for the series’ ongoing plot.

If this is true then I’m cool with it so long as the game has a similar feel that the first game had. A lot more rumors have been indicating that the game is a NX exclusive and now it’s becoming more believable as more information is becoming available. Looking forward to it
There’s been also rumors that Ubisoft’s Beyond Good & Evil for the NX would be published by Nintendo.
this is a smart move, this is basically going to be a new ip for Nintendo. they dont have to bank on the fact that people know the original and just sell it as a new ip from nintendo

Beyond Good and Evil reboot will be NX exclusive, that is until the sequel is released after the reboot on other platforms as a collection while including the sequel and a upgraded version of the reboot with more features:/

If it’s being published by Nintendo it’ll never appear on a competing system. Think Bayonetta 2. Only if it’s published by Ubisoft could what you said happen.
Why not just have the HD version of the first available on the eShop at launch for anyone interested?

They are called Letsplayvideogames.com not “Let’s Play Gaming”. I’m guessing you wrote that in a rush and got it wrong.
A 2018 release means the promise of the game coming out will have 0 impact on day 1 / first month of sales so that’s kind of a let down.
