eBay Sold A NES Mini Every 18 Seconds On Launch Day

The launch of the NES Classic Mini had Nintendo fans and retro gaming fans foaming at the mouth at launch. It was particularly hard to get hold of a unit in North America with severe stock shortages due to Nintendo’s decision to not open pre-orders. However, instead people flocked to eBay to pick up a console and the online retailer says it sold a NES Classic Mini every 18 seconds on launch day. No doubt these were going for inflated prices but that didn’t stop people from opening their wallets and purses.

“The average sale price of the $60 NES Classic on eBay from the Nov. 11 launch date until Tuesday was about $230, eBay told Polygon.”

“eBay is the destination for hard-to-find consoles, from the rare and vintage variety, to hot trending options, like the Nintendo NES Classic Edition,” Jay Hanson, eBay’s Vice President of North America Merchandising, Hard Goods, told Polygon. “Customers rely on eBay to offer a great selection of items that are difficult to find elsewhere. Specific with the NES Classic Edition, we sold one every 18 seconds on its release day.”

    1. Really, your now surprised? After I told you it was hot? After I told you that red ring of death was xbox too? AND YOUR SHOCKED?! Told you also, your being delusional…some church you are.

But still, I wouldn’t pay over the actual price range they originally go for…

  1. You mean there were actually dumbasses willing to pay asinine prices? Must be the rejects that god decided not to give brains to. I can’t wait until stores get a bunch more, and these morons realize how retarded they were for feeding and encouraging scalpers.

  2. Nintendo is very good at missing great sales opportunities. They could have broken all kinds of records with th NES Classic, instead they are playing catch up… Again

  4. I Was looking forward on picking up NES mini and Pokemon 3ds edition. Was so upset that couldn’t get the NES. I ended up not buying any. If you’re gonna sell something. Make sure you have enough for the consumers. Or don’t play the hard to get strategy. Because all of that money go to scalpers.

    1. Question, do you even know what that word means? I’m just curious that your a grandma and yet you seem not to know…

On top of that, don’t know why you all call them name for something you either hate or refuse to accept what they are.

  5. Wouldn’t it be funny if the NES mini would be back in stock before the parcels reach those dumbasses that paid $300!

  6. People voted for Hillary & Trump this year. With that in mind, this isn’t as big of a shock to me as it would have been over 3 years ago.
