Eurogamer: Zelda Breath Of Wild Releasing In US And Japan In March, Europe Still Unclear

Eurogamer has written an interesting article on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and the information they have heard from their sources regarding a release date for each region. It would seem that Nintendo has finalised a date for North America and Japan, but Europe is still currently up in the air

“So, what changed? Multiple sources close to Nintendo have now told Eurogamer that, at the end of last year, Japan finalised its plans and had a change of heart: Switch needed the strongest possible launch lineup. In short, Zelda will release in March in North America and Japan. Zelda’s launch timing in Europe is still unclear.

Nintendo of Europe, which will be impacted most by this change, had previously pushed for as long a period of testing and localisation as could be allowed and had been working to the proposed schedule of a global launch after the Switch itself.

One source tells Eurogamer that Japan had always wanted the game to launch in March, and had been uncomfortable waiting until later. Another source says the decision to move ahead with March regardless of Europe was only finalised by committee at the end of last year.”

  1. “Nintendo (…) had a change of heart” – So the game is already finished and Nintendo just wanted to hold it back longer, for whatever reason?
    PLEASE STOP SPREADING SUCH BULLSHIT!!

    1. I believe it is a difficult decision to release a game in one region first, then after months in another. People can lose their interest in buying cuz there will be videos of gameplay everywhere with spoilers and etc. And it’s just one reason.

    2. At least they didn’t throw it out there to the public as if it was a beaten dog, unlike some of the WB (Arkham Knight pc), Capcom (featurless SFV), and Bethesda (Every Elder Scrolls and Dishonored 2 pc) O_O
I prefer my games as well done as possible.

    3. Why do you feel Eurogamer needs to stir the pot? If anything they’ve been fairly credible. In my opinion I think it’s folks just don’t tend to want to absorb or accept anything that doesn’t fit what they would like to see happen whether it’s the Mass Effect situation, this BOTW, or any other related to Nintendo being left out. Not saying it’s factual one way or another until Nintendo announces the official info, but to completely dismiss it from folks with a litle bit more insight than us is illogical

      1. Could it be that the pot stirring has anything to do with click bait ad revenue? Hmmm… That revile date is looming large and the well is gonna dry up considerably, sooner than later l’d imagine

  2. Right around tax return time. This is also why Nintendo focused heavily on young adults rather than children and why it’s releasing in march in the US and Japan. Nin Want all of that millennial doe asap and damn if they aren’t gonna get it from us:D

  3. Being from the UK, it’s going to annoy me that we aren’t going to have access to the game when a perfectly good English version (likely the same one we’d be getting anyway) is already done, finished & being sold in the Americas.

If the console is region free (please, lord), couldn’t they just ship the USA version to some people in the UK? Not releasing the Switch’s Killer App at launch will only hurt their already bad reputation in the UK.

  4. Surely the only difference between American and European version is changing color to colour etc. Nintendo’s relevance in Europe is low anyway, you gotta bring Zelda to the launch! Even if it needs a patch later I don’t mind.

  5. Well, some commercials will let us know next month, Game Fly! Keep your eyes glued to Game Fly’s commercials next month, they always show upcoming games on there! Come on Game Fly, don’t let us down!

  7. Ridley 4 Smash Switch X3 (Dragon Ball Super & the Buu Saga of Dragon Ball Z Kai both air 1/7/17 on ! Yay!)

Whatever the case may be, we’ll find out soon enough on the 12th.
