While Breath of the Wild is probably the Switch’s biggest launch title, it doesn’t use all of the console’s features. Unlike 1-2-Switch, the long awaited game doesn’t use the Switch’s HD Rumble feature. However, the game’s developer has voiced an interest in using the feature in the future. In an interview with Game Informer, Aonuma talked about how interesting the option is. Check out the full interview here.
Force feedback is something I am keeping in the back of my head. I want the users to feel that immediate reaction and with HD rumble, we’re able to do that with a further in-depth experience. In Skyward Sword when you’re swinging your sword, whether you’re attacking a hard-shelled enemy and have a little bit of resistance, or cutting through something really easily, those kinds of differences in attacks, you will be able to create them with HD rumble. In the future it is something I would definitely like to visit.
Of course the 1-2-Switch dev team is part of our group, so there are other developers on our team that are thinking about it. As I am talking to you, I just thought about with HD Rumble, how about if you’re putting a sword back in its sheath, or taking it out? That little bit of movement can also be expressed with HD Rumble, so that could be kind of fun.
i only got zelda with my switch so no hd rumble for me as for aonuma either he can patch botw to alllow hd rumble release a game similar to links crossbow training or wait however long for the next zelda
Botw dlc would be a good place to add it to the game.
It’s a shame they weren’t able to add this in. Probably couldn’t cause they wouldn’t be able to meet the simultaneous release date.
Kind of a shame they removed all the GamePad features that they had working as well. Everybody lost when it came to the Redevelopment of Zelda quality and gameplay took a backseat to switch sales and graphics. They should have finished Zelda for the Wii U exactly how they had already built it and then we released it on switch with all switches features. Unfortunately I rushed game is bad forever we’re as a delayed game can be great hell of a time for Nintendo to be breaking their code of development.
Still I’m hoping that the game is still going to be amazing I mean after all everyone’s giving it rave reviews.
Maybe if they didn’t spend time removing Gamepad features from the Wii U version, maybe they would have had more time to devote to adding shit to the Switch version.
This attempt to not have unique versions irked me about Smash 4 & it pisses me off here when I think about it. *eye twitch*huff, huff* Okay. Must stop thinking about this before it taints my enjoyment of BotW on Switch.
SKYWARD SWORD HD CONFIRMED!! PLEASE AONUMA!! PLEASE!
I wonder how good the Switch motion control is vs. Wii Motion Plus? Are there even any games available for Switch right now that use it?
If they make SS HD, they should do it right, and edit parts of the game that were obnoxious. Fi’s words of wisdom should be cut down, the intro should be streamlined, etc. Heck, they could even remake Skyward from the ground up, similar to how Metroid Zero Mission was a remake of Metroid 1. That’s not too crazy an idea; it would be a lot of work vs. a normal HD remake, but it would be much easier than making a brand new Zelda, and it would justify a $60 price tag, so why not do it? They could keep the dungeons exactly the same, they wouldn’t have to significantly redesign the art style, the characters and story would obviously be the same… they would just have to rework some of the overworld stuff that didn’t exactly work, cut or replace some of the more annoying “filler” between dungeons, maybe add voice acting and dynamism to the cut scenes to make them less painfully slow, etc.
I’ll never repurchase Skyward as it is, HD or not. I think it is way too flawed, and I think Nintendo recognized a lot of the flaws, too, since they were purged from BotW. But I would buy the crap out of a really well done remake.
Skyward Sword remade Metroid: Zero Mission style would be nice. Not major changes to gameplay or story to make it feel like a reimagining but enough changes to make it feel like an actual remake. If only EA had done that with Need for Speed: Most Wanted 2015/U. Instead, it was a reimagining instead of a remake. I’d also love it if they did the same for Eternal Darkness & both Baten Kaitos games, too. Of course, Baten Kaitos getting remakes in that style would be up to Bandai Namco who owns the IP but I guess it could be manageable since Nintendo owns the guys that actually developed the game (*spiritually hugs Monolith Soft* lol) so maybe Nintendo could buy the IP from them. There’s a few other games I’d love to see get the Zero Mission treatment but I’ll save that for another time.
To everyone playing this game on the Wii U, I recommend changing your power settings so that the Wii U does NOT shut off after an hour at least until we know how the autosave function works… hell I don’t even know if there is an autosave! I do know you don’t want to lose progress if you fall asleep while gaming haha
There is an autosave and it saves pretty often so you probably won’t lose more than 5-10 min of gameplay.
after gaming all night I noticed it does indeed have a fantastic autosave!
Yeah its amazing! And when you start the game back up you can choose to go back in time up to about 10 or so autosaves!
There is also a screen when u press start all the way to the right where u can select save or load. Unless for some reason it’s a switch exclusive feature lol
Skyward Sword HD might convince me to get a Switch if the motion controls are more stable and they adjust blocking so I don’t ruin my wrist.
Skyward Sword HD made to work well on Switch would be nice since I actually love that Zelda game. Fi being less hand holdy would be nice, too, but since it’s actually part of her character to assist her master in everything, doubtful. I guess it could be fixed to where there is an option when talking to her that lets Link command her to not be so helpful.
Do any of the launch games include HD Rumble?

Maybe if they didn’t spend all of 2016 & some of 2015 to REMOVE Gamepad functions from the Wii U version, maybe they could have actually added HD Rumble & maybe even optional motion controls for using your melee weapons & shield in the fucking Switch version! Oh yeah! I’m not dumb. I know EXACTLY why the Wii U & Switch versions are roughly the same exact game with nothing unique between them. *eye twitch* That grievance aside, I’m still enjoying BotW on my Switch & I’m glad to finally be the fuck away from Wii fucking U! It’s nice to be back on a Nintendo home console & I hope this doesn’t end with Zelda or end up as another Wii U! Even if it does, least I’ll have my PS4 to carry the rest of the burden if it becomes too hard for Nintendo.
