Nintendo, through the Hacker One program, will reward you if you’re successful in uncovering exploits and vulnerabilities for Nintendo Switch hardware and software. The program is already in operation for the 3DS and Wii U (and has been since last December) but now Nintendo have extended the reward scheme for their latest home console.

Below are examples of vulnerabilities that Nintendo is interested in receiving information about:

  • System vulnerabilities regarding Nintendo Switch
    • Privilege escalation from userland
    • Kernel takeover
    • ARM® TrustZone® takeover
  • Vulnerabilities regarding Nintendo-published applications for Nintendo Switch
    • Userland takeover
  • System vulnerabilities regarding the Nintendo 3DS family of systems
    • Privilege escalation on ARM® ARM11™ userland
    • ARM11 kernel takeover
    • ARM® ARM9™ userland takeover
    • ARM9 kernel takeover
  • Vulnerabilities regarding Nintendo-published applications for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems
    • ARM11 userland takeover that doesn’t require other hacks or tools (“secondary” exploits would be those that require other hacks or tools to be effective; those would be out of scope for this program)
    • Hardware vulnerabilities regarding either the Nintendo Switch system or the Nintendo 3DS™ family of systems
  • Low-cost cloning
  • Security key detection via information leaks

Cash incentives start at $100 but the bigger the exploit, the bigger the reward with reports indicating that funds can increase up to $20,000.

  1. “Hello, this is JailbreakGroupXYZ. We’ve just discovered a SwitchOS exploit, and posted a video on YouTube. This exploit is un-patchable, and gives OS-level system calls.

As you may have heard, Nintendo recently announced a $20K reward for anyone finding vulnerabilities for the Switch. However, if we accept that reward and Nintendo closes that vulnerability, this might permanently hurt the homebrew prospects of the Switch.

So, dear readers. We leave it up to you. We’ve created a GoFundMe page at this link. Nintendo has capped their reward at $20K. But if the homebrew community sees more value in this exploit, then we will release it within the next week.

    So, what will it be?
    The choice is yours!”

  2. This shit again?

How about an update for infinite durability, infinite stamina, and not being kicked around like a ragdoll (pretty much everything gameranx addressed with BotW). Then there would be no need. And while we’re at it,

    VC for the following systems:
    -Sega CD
    -Sega 32X
    -Sega Saturn
    -Sega Dreamcast

I know people also want Gamecube games, but that’s more likely to come. Besides, Nintendont has that area covered.

  3. King Kalas X3 {Greatness Awaits at Sony PlayStation 4! Please, Nintendo! Blow me off of the fence at E3 onto your side so I can say the same for Switch, too!}

Maybe Nintendo could start paying some of their more loyal followers, aka ass kissers, while they are at it. Hell! I’ll go back to being an annoying little ass kissing fanboy & sing Nintendo’s praises, even if they are lies, for 20 bucks a week, too! Want me to say this guy is a little troll for not loving EVERYTHING about the Switch or Breath of the Wild? You got it!

Hey, shadowvegeta! You suck for not liking Breath of the Wild 100%! Get back under your bridge, troll!
