Sensor Tower has released some data for the Nintendo Switch Online App, which has been out for a little over a week now. They estimate that the app was installed around 780,000 times worldwide, which would be about 17% of all Switch owners. 400,000 were on iOS, and 380,000 were on Android. As for feedback, it depends on where you look. Reception in the United States has been 72% negative and 28% positive. In Japan, it’s the opposite. 77% were positive and 23% were negative. We’ve included a chart showing the growth of worldwide downloads down below.
When they fix that then we can download againa but for now I don’t need it
The App is not even available here in Chile :/
In Brazil either :/
which is dumb. there are tons fo brazilians playing splatoon every single day. Every match I play I se at least one brazilian.
So true..
Brazilians are loving switch and Splatoon, but Nintendo doesn’t care.
P3. I’ve downloaded it. Haven’t used it yet though. Frankly, I’m not even entirely sure how. Haven’t really looked at it much.
Too inconvenient to use.
P5. I will likely never download the app unless they put some exclusive item in there or something.
There are exclusive items for Splatoon 2.
Just give players an ACTUAL online feature WITH Voice Chat on the damn console, not using your fucking phone you plebs!
}{ If I had to guess, the system probably lacks the power to run a voice chat and play the games at the same time… From what I’ve seen it appears that most of the first party software pushes the technology to the absolute limit… If people would simply recognize this inferiority, they could discover a land where voice chat is supported, internet is free (excluding the fee that all gamers must pay to their internet provider), and the content is infinitely backwards compatible… }{
“From what I’ve seen it appears that most of the first party software pushes the technology to the absolute limit”
A conclusion based on…….what exactly?
“If people would simply recognize this inferiority, they could discover a land where voice chat is supported, internet is free (excluding the fee that all gamers must pay to their internet provider), and the content is infinitely backwards compatible…”
You missed a few details of that land. It’s also a land where the majority of games are shoddy ports of the console versions, you’ll randomly have compatibility issues indefinitely, since the hardware isn’t dedicated it needs to be 3x more powerful for similar performance, you can’t reliably buy used hardware which causes all your hardware to be fundamentally more expensive, and you need to understand computers on a much deeper level to get away without spending literally five to six times as much money for your machine.
And then you still don’t get to play a whole slew of major first party titles that will never come to pc.
So let me get this straight; you regularly visit a blog that centers around a company whose products you don’t like. For what reason? To “recruit” people into preferring a different gaming platform? You come off as one of the saddest human beings I’ve seen.
Maybe it will happen this on the New Nintendo Switch
I have it downloaded even though I have no games supporting it. (I know, I need to get Splatoon 2. 😰)
I just have it for no reason. Don’t mind though.
These stats should hopefully send a message to Nintendo about how they really need to fix their online in general, at least update the app so it can run in the background on your phone, that should be easy enough to fix…
17% Of Switch Owners installed it, doesn’t say how many tried it saw how bad it was and uninstalled it or just kept it and forgot about it. (most people who didn’t like it probably didn’t give any feedback and just got rid of it) I gave it a chance but at this point, put voice chat on the console itself or I’ll just ignore it and use discord if I want to. The first Xbox had 64MB of ram, that’s 64 times weaker than the Switch’s 4GB, lack of power is ABSOLUTELY NOT the reason why they went the phone route because they want to get a share of the mobile market and link it with the switch.
Let’s keep that number low guys! Do not download, do not reinforce Nintendo’s behavior!
I can’t download it anyway because I don’t have an Android or IOS phone.
You should definitely get one.
He, or she, definitely should NOT get one. Smartphones are the devil & is making slaves of you all! D:
Only worthwhile thing on it is the gear shop for splatoon 2 lol
I like looking at all my stats as well. It also gave me 2 free Splatoon themed mobile wallpapers when I surpassed the Squid Research HQ milestone of lifetime turf inkage. The app would be much better if it had stuff like this for other games. The app would be a million times better if it just had simple message function and a way to send game invites for ANY game.
The other 83% is still trying to wonder “what the fuck was Nintendo thinking with this stupid bullshit!?” lol I wonder what percentage of that 17% actually uses the damn app & how many actually got rid of it after only one use.

lol
||The Hybrid has sold then approximately 4.6 million units, good…||
Which is already a third of all Wii U units sold to date. Nobody can say it is selling poorly, not unless they are a troll. The PS4 outsold it in the same timeframe by selling 6 Million in the same amount of time and the Switch is looking to outpace the Xbox One to 5 Million units sold. It took the Xbox One more than 5 months to reach that number, the Switch could very well have reach 5 Million sold by the end of the month, making it reach 5 Million in less than 5 Months.
The thing to remember is that the PS4 and the Xbox One both had a holiday season fall during those timeframes. That makes the Switch’s sales actually more impressive.
||We are simply better at doing things while things are against us…||
Except better stock of figurines, getting parts for Switch as it seems Apple is mostly whooping that ass right now, & horrible, HORRIBLE ways of making people use voice chat & other things that come standard as part of a system everywhere else.
The Switch Online app needs some upgrade anyway. I still don’t use it because:
1) I haven’t Splatoon 2
2) I want to see more games works with it.
Just make a simple application for the Switch system itself, where it runs in the background. This app is both inconvenient and quite frankly, pointless.
I want to be able to open switch screenschots on the app.
As expected- no one wants to take such a convoluted route for things as simple as voice chat and setting up lobbies.
Seriously, why is THAT limited to an app? I don’t remember needing to use my phone to make a lobby in the first Splatoon- back in my day, we just did it through the game and made 4-way calls so my friends and I could chat/smack talk each other no matter which team we were on.
