Niantic CEO John Hanke recently took part in an interview with Business Weekly. There, Hanke mentioned that a new battle system will be coming to Pokemon GO in 2018, specifically “several months away”. It’s presumed to be related to the player-versus-player mode, or PvP, which has been highly requested in the past. However, that wasn’t all Hanke brought up. At one point, the arrival of the third generation of Pokemon was teased in the interview. All Hanke says is that “I hope the players will soon see him”. Here’s what he said about it in full:
“There is a lot of Pokémon that have not yet been launched. So I think the next secret weapon will be launch of the next Pokémon generation. I hope the players will soon see them.”

Wait, did he just say what his secret weapon was? That doesn’t make the “secret weapon” so secretive doesn’t it?
Anyways, I love Gen 3 so maybe I’ll return to Pokémon GO…
Maybe.
Excellent! Then can you make your “secret weapon” an actually playable game?
The fact there’s no trading or battling and we are nearly 3 generations into Pokemon GO is disappointing
