Nintendo Further Details Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Champions Amiibo Functionality

Next week we will see the arrival of the much-anticipated set of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Champions amiibo. This set includes Daruk, Mipha, Revali and Urbosa amiibo and you’ll be able to get your hands on them from November 10. Nintendo has now revealed some more information via Facebook on what the amiibo will give you when scanned. Read below for a more detailed rundown:

With the Champion amiibo coming out on November 10th, learn more about what each helm does in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild!

When any of the Divine Helms are equipped with Ancient Cuirass and Ancient Greaves (All armor items need to be upgraded level 2 ★★ or above), you’ll also trigger a set bonus, Ancient Proficiency, which increases the attack power of Ancient or Guardian series weapons. All of them will increase guard from ancient energy attacks, while defense level and required materials for level-up are the same as those of Ancient Helm. Enemies’ remaining HP/full HP will also be visible like the Champion’s Tunic.

Additionally, there are specific effects for each item:

– Vah Rudania Divine Helm: Flame Guard (Lv1)
– Vah Ruta Divine Helm: Swim Speed Up (Lv1)
– Vah Naboris Divine Helm: Electricity Resistance (Lv1)
– Vah Medoh Divine Helm: Cold Resistance (Lv1)

*sigh* More exclusive amiibo DLC. Least I managed to preorder these through Amazon. Of course, I got tired of Nintendo & Best Buy’s bullshit concerning Majora’s Mask Link amiibo and bought it from someone with a high 90% good rating on eBay. I’d rather give my money to a scalper asking for around 24 bucks (that’s S&H included) than to see a single penny of my money for it go to Nintendo. Why bother letting people use your online store to buy something if you aren’t gonna ship it to them through the mail & force them to pick it up at a fucking store!? *eye twitch*

(NoA, don’t let Bad Buy have exclusive amiibo again! Of course, you suck so you probably will let them have an exclusive again at some point, anyway…)

    1. Nintendo makes DLC through amiibo – People complain about DLC only accessible through amiibo as you’ve just demonstrated.
Nintendo makes amiibo not grant anything new in the game – People complain amiibo are waste of money and are a rip-off.

It doesn’t matter which route they choose, there’s always going to be a group not happy so really your criticism is unfair, not even Nintendo can please everyone. And besides, it’s not like anything amiibo grant are game-changing, at best it’s a handful of small bonuses to give you a little help.

      1. I do somewhat agree, but Amiibo has become collectors items instead of being those “gameplay expansive virtual companions” they were originally marketed as. I would prefer if they were more like the Shovel Knight Amiibo.

      2. I’m glad for the most part they are very basic features, that don’t feel like we miss out if we don’t have them.

I like the idea of amiibo, but I think they should have made an alternative method for some of the exclusives like being able to buy a digital amiibo (basically a permanent dlc attached to your account), for slightly less of course. Just so that there is an alternative route.

Least with paid DLC, I, and many others, can find it on a digital store. With amiibo’s DLC, we have to hunt the thing down & pray we can find one since NoA can’t stock these amiibo for shit.

      3. So far I feel like only Smash Bros. (and the Wolf Link amiibo to a certain extent) have actually made a good use of the amiibo. It’s the only game I can think of that actually takes advantage of the fact that these are toys you can store data in.

To you, maybe. To some others, nice alternate costumes are far from small. And do I need to bring up the bullshit with the Metroid amiibo & what they unlock in Metroid: Samus Returns? “But it’s already got a hard mode!?” Well some people would like an even harder mode they don’t have to hunt down a hard to find physical object for. If Nintendo wasn’t such shit, NoA in particular, with stocking the amiibo, there wouldn’t be any problems to begin with. Of course, you have people that don’t give a crap about amiibo at all so an alternative to get the shit the amiibo unlock in their games would be nice. So if anyone is being unfair, it’s Nintendo with expecting everyone to buy some stupid figurine.

    2. “(NoA, don’t let Bad Buy have exclusive amiibo again! Of course, you suck so you probably will let them have an exclusive again at some point, anyway…)”

Turns out, they care more about one of the largest retailers in the country being happy promoting Nintendo products than they do .0001% of their customers who don’t like to drive to a physical store for a limited collector’s item so much they’ll pay more on ebay.

      1. Not everyone has a Best Buy near them. It doesn’t affect me personally, as I stopped buying amiibo a long time ago, but just because it doesn’t affect me I can still sympathize with those who aren’t able to get certain items they desire due to long distance or limited stock or other issues.

      2. Kalas X3, The Sonyendo King {Sony+Nintendo=Sonyendo!}

If I could just drive to a physical store, I would. The closest Best Buy to me is over 70 miles & 2 hours away. I’d spend more money going to a store for one little item on gas than the item itself. So yes. I paid more for it on eBay because I’d spend a lot more going to get it. Maybe if there was an alternative method for me to get the thing the stupid “collector’s” item unlocked in BotW, I wouldn’t have this issue in the first place.

    3. Yeah, I STILL have never saw the Majora’s Mask Link amiibo at Best Buy. I wanted that one SO bad. But not bad enough to buy from scalpers. Even the regular retail price for amiibo is too high. They should only be $8.99 at the most. And I still can’t figure out why all Breath Of The Wild amiibo are higher. $16.99 instead of $12.99. But they do the exact same thing. Why the higher prices?

    4. Personally, I say 1 of the best games for amiibo functionality is Shovel Knight. It doesn’t offer much in terms of gameplay but the amount of customization is offers is excellent.
And considering Shovel Knight is from an indie company way smaller than Nintendo, that’s very impressive.

  2. What are you going to do after you’re done fiddling around with them on your tablet? Are you going to set them up for display around your bedroom so they can stare at you all night? Perhaps, you will play with them like the little boy did in ‘Toy Story’? Will you circle-jerk with them, probably? Or sell them for a fraction you bought them for?.. Or maybe at least do just one of these? Jeez, so many losers in here. Keep wasting money on these pieces of plastic. Even the rich are idiots for buying all of this crap.

  3. Lacklustre for sure.

I want to hope they just can’t announce a functionality related to the champions dlc yet, but I don’t think I’ll be holding my breath on that.

  4. I think I’ll pass on the 4-pack- if I can get Mipha by herself, maybe I’ll indulge.

I gotta stop grabbing these things, but it’s difficult… Found the Metroid 2-pack 3 weeks ago, grabbed a Chrom I managed to glance in my peripheral vision last week…

My nearest Gamestop got a nice restock of BotW amiibo. They had around 3-5 Guardians, 2 of Zelda, & 2 of the different Links on the show floor with some, not sure how many, in the back of the store where customers aren’t allowed. If only they had the Majora’s Mask Link amiibo in stock. But nope. It’s exclusive to “Best” Buy. Even if it wasn’t exclusive to them but exclusive to Gamestop instead, I still doubt I would have found it as they didn’t even have any of the Twilight Princess Link amiibo which is the one that IS exclusive to them. NoA+exclusives=have fun NOT finding it, sucker! Hahahaha! *eye twitch*

Anyway, I’ve preordered all 4 of them from Amazon but I only got an email giving me the release date of 3 of them. Guess which one I DIDN’T get a release date for? *eye twitch* Now I’m worried that I might not be getting her at all in spite of preordering it.

Nevermind. I just got an email telling me about Mipha’s release date. lol
