News has appeared today on Twitter that Funko could have the license to make merchandise based on the iconic Earthbound series. Considering many think that the brand is dead this comes as a bit of a surprise. It’s not clear what merchandise they have planned for the franchise, but it’s something to watch out for. However, news has also appeared which suggests that Funko doesn’t actually have an official Nintendo license so it’s all a bit strange.

First Illumination doing the Mario Movie and now Funko might actually be doing the Earthbound merch…. yeah, Nintendo sucks are picking media partners.

I always wanted Earthbound figures. I’ve always loved that game SO much. But my Ness and Lucas amiibo are as close as I’ve ever got. Speaking of Earthbound……I’m still hoping to hear that Mother 3 is coming to Switch. But what I’d REALLY prefer is a physical game on Switch, with all 3 games in one. A guy can dream can’t he?
The Collector (@Collect_Or_Die) Your dream is possible, but I dream further with a hd remake of those games. Is it possible? They have many designed on smash. It´s amazing that an old IP that won´t have sequels is still very famous, it´s sad seeing nothing else.

I typically don’t like Funko figures, but Earthbound would fit perfectly with them.
