Eiji Aonuma Isn’t Saying If Zelda Is Playable In Breath Of The Wild 2

The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 was announced at the end of Nintendo’s E3 2019 Direct yesterday, and fans have been very curious about what Zelda’s role will be in the game. Well, Kotaku brought this up to Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma at E3 this morning. If you were expecting an answer about the matter, you’re not getting one.

Aonuma said, “a lot of people have been asking that, and so I want to ask you, why do people think that”? After Kotaku gave a couple of reasons, Aonuma replied by saying “I see. (laughs) But I can’t tell you”. Later, Kotaku tried to give Aonuma trick question by asking him the number of playable characters that are in the game. Once again, all Aonuma says is that “I can’t say”.

  1. If it’s a no, just come out & say it. If it’s a yes, obviously they won’t tell. Either way, this neither confirms nor denies a playable Zelda in the game. But this is the Legend of Zelda franchise and a big part of being a fan of it is coming up with theories & speculations even if Nintendo possibly one day proves you wrong. But since BotW was such a huge departure from past games, the only other thing they could do to surprise us at this point is actually breaking away from another tradition and actually have Zelda as an optional playable character for either single player purposes or for 2-player co-op. Plus the whole different colored Links trick for multiplayer is kind of outdated. Not to mention a playable Zelda would get at least SOME people to stop asking for a gender bent Link.

Can I be honest? I actually would rather they make Linkle from Hyrule Warriors canon and have her fill the role of a female Link. People love Linkle so why not kill 2 birds with 1 stone?

    2. Did they really just expect him to come out and say yes or no

Seems kind of pointless for interviewers to ask devs stuff like this and yet it happens all the time

      1. why wouldn’t they ask these questions that people obviously wanna know? of course they don’t expect a straight answer but there is literally no harm in asking.
