Pokemon Sword & Shield brings autosave to the series

The upcoming Pokemon Sword & Shield will be the first game in the long-running Pokemon franchise to introduce an autosave mechanic. For those of you a little worried about its inclusion you will be pleased to know it is something you can turn off. Here’s what Pokemon Sword & Shield director Shigeru Ohmori told Game Informer:

“It’s a new feature we’re implementing: full autosave functionality. Traditionally in Pokémon games, it’s an important thing to write your report to record your save, and that’s always been a staple, like, “Remember to save your game!” We do have an autosave feature this time, where you can just adventure and it’ll constantly save the game.”

  1. At least GameFreak isn’t cruel enough to locked you into starters/event/gift Pokemon with crappy stats or failed legendary captures.
