Reset Era member Mazi has made a compelling case to suggest that either Playtonic is joining Xbox Games Studios or has been put to work on a new Banjo-Kazooie game. It seems unlikely at this point that Rare will return to the Banjo-Kazooie series as they seem focused on creating new IP. A number of tweets and information suggest that Playtonic could be at the helm of a new game featuring the iconic bear and bird. Rare has spoken before about liciensing their IPs out to the right studios. Here’s what’s been put together by Mazi and we could hear more at X019 which is coming soon and taking place in London.

Yooka-Laylee, Yooka-Laylee & The Impossible Lair, and in the foreseeable future that game #3, #4 and the #5 one too which is the one I always thought would be game #1.Playtonic registered a new company, the PLAYTONIC GAMES DEVELOPMENT LIMITED, out of nowhere on Sept. 17th 2019
MAKE A NEW BANJO GAME. AND BRING IT TO THE SWITCH
Precisely First Order Reaver! :)
Thank you Ambassador
Not really Nintendo news. But if it is true, hopefully it will be coming to the Nintendo Switch in the future.
If this happens, than my best guess would be they do a remake of BK1 as Remakes are working out quite well (Spyro, Crash Bandicoot) and the first game was pretty much the only game that today is really considered that milestone game people are talking about until today. Banjo Tooie wasn’t really a step up and the series didn’t improve later on so the most safe thing to do to get some bucks would be a remake. Which I would also buy day 1 and I believe I wouldn’t be the only one. And of course after that MS x Nintendo-thing going on, it would release for the Switch, especially if Playtonic is involved who know how many more units are sold on the Switch than on any other platform.
A Remake would also open the doors to building onto this like Retro did with Tropical Freeze onto DK Returns.
