Believe it or not, Sonic the Hedgehog has never made an appearance at The Game Awards. However, that may soon change. Geoff Keighley, show’s creator and producer, did a brief Periscope stream earlier today and answered questions from fans. One fan asked Keighley if there would be any news about Sonic’s 30th anniversary. Keighley responded by saying that “yeah, I don’t know, we may do something fun with the movie that’s coming out next year. We’re still talking about that. Maybe we’ll do something fun around that. We love Sonic, so Sonic may make an appearance in some form inside of the show”. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens, but in the meantime, you can see a tweet relaying the news down below.

Isn’t Sonic’s 30th anniversary in 2021, not next year? They might want to wait at least until next year to do something for that. But if they’re just doing something regarding the movie in 2 months, that might be fun to see.
I don’t think they will reveal Sonic’s 30th anniversary at the show, I think they will only reveal some stuff about the Sonic Movie.
It’ll just be a video of Sonic presenting an award for a category.
