Retro Studios has added another video game talent to its studio. The latest hire by the Texas studio is Jhony Ljungstedt who was the Art Director over at DICE known for the Battlefield series and Mirror’s Edge. Mr. Ljungstedt will presumably keeping his prestigious role at Retro Studios who are currently hard at work on the next Metroid Prime video game.
Today was my last day at DICE and it’s with mixed feelings I’m leaving something that’s been part of my life for such a long time. It’s been great journey and I feel privileged to have got the chance to work with all the talented people at DICE, you will all be missed… Now I’m ready for a new chapter in my life, and looking forward to my new journey at Retro Studios.
Jhony Ljungstedt
The gritty/dark themes of Battlefield and the more vibrant and fantastical visuals of Mirror’s Edge should be a decent base for the next Metroid Prime. Also, I assume he’s Swedish, so that’s some national pride for yours truly if he pulls it off.
I cannot wait until the day comes where we get the first proper look at mp4, keep bringing in the talent and make this game a beast
I’m pretty sure now it will be a 90+ game, at least somewhat of an classic and generation defining game.. or not but at least they try hard.
Sucks that they started development on prime 4 all over
I think it was the right choice. Better have a good game instead of a rushed or bad game. Never found Namco Bandai as the best company to work for MP4.
Wow seems lots of artists wants to work on MP4. First the Halo artist now this. Who is next?
It’s a bit late to hire an art director for MP4 don’t you think?
It would be if they were releasing this year, or the year after…or the year after that.
And as much as it pains me to say this, they’re definitely not doing that.
All I can say is that Retro brought this guy and the Halo artist aboard for a reason. I hope Retro doesn’t squander or inhibit them.
I think that Retro is working on another game besides Metroid. Maybe DK. You dont just hire a new employee and they sit around doing nothing.
Nintendo is really up to something. I can tell their R&D is BUSY. They probably got like 5 AAA or more. I have a feeling the next Direct is going to be epic. They holding all this stuff in for a reason.
Ok. 😊
interesting … shortly after EA put DICE LA under control of Mr. Vince Zampella …
I bet Bowser made it easy for him to get into Retro Studios. Good. That studio can use more talented people.
