The latest video games sales data for the month of September in the United States is now in via the NPD Group. There were numerous big new entries during the month including Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Marvel Avengers and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, amongst others. The best-selling game for the month of September was Marvel’s Avengers for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One. However, at No.2 was Super Mario 3D All-Stars for Switch. Sadly Nintendo doesn’t provide digital sales data, so it has clearly done very well if we imagine digital sales thrown in too . The best-selling platform was once again the Nintendo Switch which has been the best-selling video game hardware for 22 consecutive months in the United States.
“Super Mario 3D All-Stars launch month physical dollar sales rank as the 6th biggest for a Nintendo-published title in U.S. history,” NPD video game industry analyst Mat Piscatella notes. “Super Mario 3D All-Stars trails only Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Pokémon Stadium in physical launch month dollar sales.”

That’s a really cool record. It will probably extend it until November then we’ll have to see how many consoles Microsoft and Sony actually have for the launch and whether they can beat the Switch, which is still likely to sell very well that month with black Friday deals etc
That’s awesome.
