Famicom Detective Club remake producer, Makoto Asada, has stated in a recent Famitsu interview that he would love to have the chance to help create a new game in the Famicom Detective Club series. We recently reviewed the two re-releases for the Nintendo Switch which were Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and also Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind. We awarded Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir 7/10 and Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind 8/10. Here’s what Mr. Asada said about remaking the games:
“Our goal for the project was to create the pinnacle of 2D text adventure games, so we actually used development techniques originally planned for other games as well. Thanks to Nintendo and their development team, we made the best game we possible could, but looking back, we were quite reckless. How will we ever make something this good again? (laughs) We developed a fair amount of know-how working on the game, expertise I’d like to one day use on a new Famicom Detective Club one day.”
This would be great! Really loved these games they were so well done
Would love a new entry, but should they consider it I hope they can provide an option to streamline gameplay a bit, so you don’t have to frequently re-check each topic / item in the menus during dialogue
I would love another game in the series, but they should probably take a few notes on other games like AA when it comes to dialogue. I ended up using a guide for these since it became a chore having to recheck certain stuff 3 – 4 times became a lengthy chore, but I pressed on because the stories were interesting.
