Beat from Jet Set Radio will be a playable character in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania

SEGA has announced a new playable character for their Monkey Ball extravaganza Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania and he is from the classic Dreamcast game, Jet Set Radio. You will be able to play as Beat from the Jet Set Radio franchise once you presumably beat the story mode. This also paves the way for other classic SEGA characters to arrive in the game through unlocks. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania is coming to the Nintendo Switch and other platforms on 5th October. Check out Beat below!

  1. My heart skipped a beat when I read “will be a playable character in Super “. We don’t need any more Sega reps in Super smash bros ultimate. The only Sega character I think should be playable in Smash bros that isn’t already playable is Akira Yuki, and he’s an assist trophy.

    1. I agree, but I choose NiGHTS to close the SEGA reps. Anyone else after that would be the Sephiroth to their Cloud.

      Sonic – Tails or Knuckles
      Bayonetta – Jeanne or Rodin
      Joker – Another Persona protagonist
      NiGHTS – Reala

    2. I think Yakuza has made a name for itself, but the head for that series doesn’t want Kiryu in the game because he doesn’t like the idea of him punching Princess Peach and Zelda in the face =b

  2. The art style thrown into smash would be cool though. I think Jet Set Radio started the whole cel shade craze and really got everyone’s attention when it came out. Cel shade is still evident in Astral Chain, Sea of Thieves and Breath of the Wild is kinda cel shady.

    1. Makes sense you’d see a little in BotW. Wind Waker’s graphics led to Skyward Sword & Skyward Sword’s led to BotW. If not for Twilight Princess being between WW & SS, we’d have a straight path from WW to BotW.

  3. Oh my… that title almost made me think Beat was the final character in Smash Bros. And I was having a seconds-long panic attack…

  4. Y’all think they’re going to announce smash bros character on a Wednesday tweet? Come on now. That last announcement will be prime time.
