The latest UK physical video game software charts have come through and it is not great news for Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Monolith Soft’s epic adventure entered the charts at No.1 last week, but during its second week on sale, slipped to No.10 as Games Industry reports that sales were down 83%. A number of PlayStation games were given a boost this week as more PlayStation 5 stock arrived at UK retailers giving a boost to games such as Horizon: Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7. Here’s the GfK UK physical top ten for the week ending 6th August:
| Last Week | This Week | Title |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | 1 | Horizon: Forbidden West |
| 4 | 2 | Nintendo Switch Sports |
| 3 | 3 | Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga |
| 5 | 4 | Mario Kart 8 Deluxe |
| 13 | 5 | Gran Turismo 7 |
| 7 | 6 | Minecraft |
| 6 | 7 | F1 22 |
| 11 | 8 | Pokémon Legends: Arceus |
| 9 | 9 | Animal Crossing: New Horizons |
| 1 | 10 | Xenoblade Chronicles 3 |

Kinda sad that the training arenas and tutorials for Horizon Forbidden West are more difficult and/or challenging then the campaign. My power level was over 9000 doing the training arenas and tutorials.
Expected, this just about always happens with niche RPG titles. Most fans get it right away, so it sells in one good burst, then falls back to its more niche levels.
Which is a shame, Xenoblade definitely deserves to break out from the niche.
It really is a shame, seeing all the work and love monolithsoft POURS into their xenoblade games. They deserve more…
