Informative video game channel Did You Know Gaming? is back with a new investigative video looking at a newly discovered The Legend of Zelda spin-off from Retro Studios which was pitched to Nintendo. The game was titled Heroes of Hyrule and centres around three heroes which consisted of a Goron, a Rito, and a Zora. In the past all three were tasked with saving Link who was captured by the evil Ganon while trying to save Princess Zelda. Ganon is slayed but he retreats into an antique spellbook titled Book of Ganon. Link takes the book into safe keeping so that Ganon can never be revived again The story then fast forwards 100 years and Link is now a much older man running an antique shop. Did You Know Gaming? says that the gameplay would have been a lot like Final Fantasy Tactics. The team will talk more about this unearthed project in another video. Here’s some concept artwork from Heroes of Hyrule.
This video has a surprise towards the end. Retro Studios also worked on a Final Fantasy Tactics style Zelda game. It was called "Heroes of Hyrule." Here's some concept art. More info in the video linked below. https://t.co/KeijiLUDj1 pic.twitter.com/VePjivSUMq

@SickR i know this is off topic, i just seen that Voice of Cards The Beast of Burden releases September 13th for The Switch, PlayStation and Steam. Haven’t seen an official listing for The Switch and PlayStation but i seen for steam it’ll be $29.99
So, if you actually watch the video… it’s primarily about a cancelled Sheik game that Retro worked 9 months on (iirc). The end of the video mentioned Heroes of Hyrule but said that would get it’s own video in the future. This video was all about this Sheik game.
If you just want the main points… it was definitely not a Zelda-like game. It was a Wii game and the combat was like whack-a-mole but worse. Pretty much everything about the game was hot garbage except for the concept art and story. The story was supposed to be how the last male Sheik turned into the Master Sword… but yeah, we know Nintendo repurposed the Master Sword origin story in Skyward Sword.
We’ve covered that before (https://mynintendonews.com/2020/05/06/rumor-some-concept-art-has-appeared-for-2-cancelled-retro-titles-based-on-super-marios-boo-and-zeldas-sheik/) hence why I focussed on Heroes of Hyrule.
I mean… this is new information on that. They interviewed Retro employees and got two to talk about it.
