Grubb talks lack of Zelda Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD & Metroid Prime, in Nintendo Direct

Before the September Nintendo Direct journalist Jeff Grubb claimed that we would be seeing Wii U ports of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD along with the rumoured Metroid Prime remaster which was apparently scheduled to this holiday season. However, none of these games were announced during the Direct. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Grubb said that he was wrong regarding the information he was given though he says that he still believes that Metroid Prime remake is planned for this winter on Nintendo Switch. Here is a quick write up of what was said via Reset Era member, IDon’tBeatGames.

The two Wii U Zelda game Switch ports:

He acknowledges that they never verified their sources like they typically do for everything he leaks or reveals. There was no vetting process on the Wind Waker & Twilight Princess stuff. Him and Mike “misheard” about WW/TP, got caught up in the hype like everyone else, never double checked and confirmed this information which led to this huge mistake. As for Metroid Prime Remake, he’s checked yet again, he’s still under the assumption that it’s coming out this holiday. He has no understanding as to why Nintendo didn’t reveal it, assuming his sources are right. He’s just as confused as everybody else.

Lack of Metroid Prime Remake:

He wouldn’t be shocked if Nintendo didn’t want to reveal Metroid Prime Remake in the same Direct as Tears of the Kingdom because it’d bring down the mood and lead people to questioning where’s Metroid Prime 4. He doesn’t blame anyone at all if they were skeptical reading this speculation/hypothesis because it sounds ridiculous. However, we all have to remember, Nintendo is very weird. His core reasoning for this speculation, which again is a guess, is because Nintendo probably wanted BOTW2’s title reveal to be a big moment and not have anything bad surrounding that announcement.

    1. I mean, WW HD and TP HD exist, I’ve been playing them on WiiU while everyone talks about not having them on switch. 🤣

  1. Or, and here’s an idea Mr Grubb, you just don’t indulge in this and leave the announcements to Nintendo?
Also, as a message to My Nintendo News, can’t you please add in a section dedicated to leaks and rumours? Some of us like myself prefer to only get official information and not get spoiled.

    1. Nintendo does have an official Twitter account. Follow that and all you’ll ever get is official Nintendo news. Problem solved.

      1. Not really? I’m also interested in stuff news sites cover like sales, reviews, interviews, and so on.
That’s a very poor solution, no offense.

  2. So sick and tired of hearing about leaks and rumors of past zelda games only for nothing to show up. Just stop posting about it already and IF Nintendo does announce them then fine post all you want but until then I will avoid any and all sites posting about rumors because I’m truly sick of youtubers and bloggers talking about Zelda rumored games and am beginning to hate everyone constantly bringing up old rumors every time a direct comes up.

    1. There are more people whining about it not being announced than would actually purchase them, I’m sure. People like to complain. When they do inevitably get pumped out again, people will complain about some aspect of it’s release.

    2. Something tells me you used to watch SwitchForce. I for one stopped watching them because of all of the fake Zelda rumors they kept posting

      1. I never heard of them, I mostly saw people on Twitter and YTers like playeressence and RGT85 constantly mentioning liars like Emily Roger’s and other Twitter liars spreading crap every time a direct is even mentioned and as a gamer looking for news that isn’t about Zelda, it’s impossible to avoid these rumor spreaders on any gaming site or video now because they are all spreading the same lies from the exact same sources and it’s getting on my nerves now, that’s what my rant was about.

  3. Hey Jeff, here’s an idea. If you haven’t confirmed something, don’t shout it to the four corners of the internet like an old timey newsboy!

  4. Where people really disappointed a game that’s been on three systems IN A ROW already. Hasn’t came to the switch?! Move on… A new Zelda game came out. There’s other Zelda titles that haven’t had ports that are far more deserving

    1. The 3 Zelda games I wish would get remade are both the GBA Oracle games and Minish Cap, seriously underrated and deserved far more attention than they got.
But tbh I would really prefer Nintendo to revive their other games like puncout or get Treasure to port Mischief Makers or Bangai to the switch, something that isn’t Mario or Splatoon based.

  5. It’s the middle of September. If something was going to release before the end of this year, they would have announced it then.

  6. I think the real reason why they didn’t announce TP or WW yet is because there’s still a chance that BOTW 2 is delayed again, and if that happens, they’ll drop the two games to try and save some face. It’s bs though, just drop them already. If BOTW2 drops on time, we might not see TP/WW until 2024, if ever…..
