PlatinumGames & Nintendo discuss the future of the Bayonetta series

Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon released a few days ago, so the franchise is still fresh on the minds of fans and the video gaming media. Because of this, it isn’t surprising that Famitsu did an interview with series creator Hideki Kamiya and Nintendo producer Makoto Okazaki, which was later translated into English by Nintendo Everything. There, the pair were asked about what the future holds for the series.

Okazaki said that “there’s certainly nothing concrete we can say at this point but personally at least, I don’t think this is the end”. That said, Okazaki also mentioned wanting to listen to feedback from those who played Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon first before deciding on where to go with the series next.

Kamiya, meanwhile, stated that “we want to make this title part of a new series, and keep expanding the world”. He also revealed that they have been having discussions with director Abebe Tinari about the idea. However, the brainstorming has been restricted to just PlatinumGames devs at the moment, with Kamiya even admitting that this hasn’t been discussed with Nintendo yet.

  1. Great now what’s the future of Astral Chain franchise? Are yall making a sequel or do we have to wait 20 years for it?

  2. I’d much rather have Bayonetta 4 vs Bayonetta Origins 2. I think Origins was a fine one off, and I’m glad I bought it, but if they want to keep making them…. I’m not buying anymore. Give the fans Bayo 4, 5 and 6 first.

    1. Just beat the game… I changed my mind. I really didn’t like it in the end, very boring, repetitive and tedious. The big story “twists” were lame and predictable. Very sad it sets up probably two more of these spinoff games. I got so bored by the end I turned damage off and just watched the final two fights like cutscenes. Not worthy of the Bayonetta franchise. Will never buy another Bayonetta Origins game again. Whole thing felt like a waste of time. A game that has a dumb story and the game play stops being fun… is pointless. Avoid.
Just get Metroid Prime Remastered instead. And I love Bayo 1-3, to put it all in context.

      1. I love the art style, and can’t wait to play the game (beyond the demo) – is it possible I’ll enjoy it more than yourself? I loved the demo.
