Rumour: WayForward could be working on new Contra game from Konami

WayForward is always busy handling numerous projects and it seems as though they may have another big game currently in development and it could well be the new rumoured Contra game from Konami. A WayForward employee’s Linkedin profile has been examined and in it he states “developed gameplay, meta design, narrative, and characters for a historic shooter property.” The description of the game is that it is “an unannounced AAA Shooter of an existing franchise with four distinct gameplay styles, including Run & Gun, Top Down Shooter, Shmup, and Rail Gun.” This lines up pretty well with Contra and the company handled Contra 4 back in 2007 for the Nintendo DS system.

  1. I hope for long 2D platformer. Last real great contra is contra 4 for ds. Maibe little easier and good for local multiplayer.

  2. Let me make a prediction:

The game will come out on xxxx date for all consoles, but the switch version will be pushed back to a later date.

six years later: we are too lazy to port this game to the switch correctly (ie sony and microsoft paid us off) so it will be available in the cloud version

    1. When has anything like this ever happened for a Way forward game ? Also soby and Microsoft aren’t paying off developers to delay or ruin ports. Are you five?

  3. No please the last Contra game from them sucked with zero new ideas even the ps4 Contra was so much better.
