    1. Considering that theirs barely any nintendo exclusive at the moment I need my sonic fix so bad 😭, but for it being $59.99 it must have a whole lotta content cause not even mania or forces where price at that price point I still plan on getting it though.

            1. I mean… if this is like the Donkey Kong Country Returns version of Sonic then I think full retail price is acceptable.

          1. Having play with people up to 4 players in this game feels like almost like New Super Mario Bros Wii and the price point, I never seen a Sonic game being put up to 60$ when Forces was 40$ plus tax.

  1. To be honest, I thought this was unofficial that was made by a fan but apparently, I was completely wrong. I’m glad to see Classic Sonic is back with a 2D formula.

  2. Positives:
2D Sonic returns. It’s only right that it does because Mania was truly a great game
The physics look pretty good. It’s hard to tell for sure without playing but they look fairly true to the classic games. That may seem like a strange thing to focus on but given how awful Sonic 4’s physics were, it’s important.

    Negatives:
The powers idea doesn’t really appeal to me. For me, Sonic works best when the gameplay is kept simple without complications. But we’ll see.
Multiplayer seems like a bad idea. Anyone who’s played 4 player Mario knows the challenges of keeping everyone on screen of different skill levels. Now imagine that but the fastest player goes at the speed of Sonic. And the camera looks much more zoomed in than something like a NSMBU too, making it more difficult to keep everyone on the screen. Obviously I wouldn’t worry too much because I can always choose to not play multiplayer, but there’s the slight worry they’ll try and make the level design accommodate multiplayer to resolve these problems, and then that might make the levels fairly bland for single player.
Full price is rather steep for a game like this. Nintendo get away with charging full price for 2D platformers, but can Sega? Will this be a game truly deserving of that price tag?

Overall, I’m curious, but I’m not sold yet. I really would have preferred a direct sequel to Mania, but my understanding is that the relationships between Sega and Headcannon are too strained for that to have ever happened.

    1. The sad part is that it was never meant to be called Sonic the Hedgehog 4. Those games were supposed to be simple mobile games, but because the Wii had the WiiWare section they decided to throw it on there, give it the Sonic the Hedgehog 4 name, and then they covered it as if it was a return to form for Classic Sonic gameplay.

So basically Sonic the Hedgehog 4 was always supposed to be a simple game for phones/tablets, but the marketing messed up and pretended it was a big deal.

Imo, Sonic 4 episode 1 is meh, but episode 2 was pretty decent. Neither of them should have ever been called Sonic 4 though

  3. This sounds interesting, but I hope that Sefa is not ditching Shadow and Rouge forever. We haven’t got a game in ages, where those two were in it and portrayed well, not to say playable. But then again, seperating classic and modern Sonic is a good idea. But then again, I would love to see an origin game for Amy, Tails and Rouge.
