It is no secret that the hard working Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai is a huge gamer and loves to play the latest console games. This week he says that he finished both the critically acclaimed Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Spider-Man 2 and says that both games are masterpieces which he would fully recommend to anyone looking for something good to play. He also thanked the developers behind the games and thanked them for making them. Here’s what he said via social network X.
“I completed “Spider-Man 2” and “Super Mario Bros. Wonder” last night. I don’t want the release dates of the big titles to coincide with each other that I need to see…! But I thought both were masterpieces that I would recommend to anyone. The games are amazing these days and I thank you for making them.”

Sakurai’s time management must be out of this world to be producing videos regularly AND finish two games DAYS after they release.
That or he just doesn’t sleep.
He’s gone on record stating that he does an exercise bike while playing video games on one TV and watching TV series at 1.5x speed on the TV next to the gaming TV.
The Spiderman 2 campaign length is roughly 15 hours and according to the trophy guide on Powerpyx website the estimated time until platinum is between 25 and 30 hours. That’s without skipping dialogue and cinematics, besides that just because they finished them doesn’t necessarily mean they didn’t get a copy before the official release date.
Cool! Maybe sakurai will try and get a marvel character in the next smash and elephant Mario too.

Super Mario Wonder has like 8 or 10 hours of content, and Spiderman 2 campaign length is roughly 15 hours. That’s not really that impressive, but really anyone can say game(s) are a masterpiece and recommend them. .. That doesn’t mean they finished them, i can say that much about any game.
As much as I respect Sakurai for being a good dev, this is where I draw the line., because in my opinion, Spiderman 2 is trash.

Spiderman 2 isn’t trash, it sold 2.5 million copies in one day and it’s PlayStation studios fastest selling game.
Sales have nothing to do with a game being good.
They don’t directly, but the most common reason for high sales would be the quality of the product
Nah, there is barely any correlation. CoD and Madden are both low quality products riddled with issues. They still sell like crazy. Diablo 4 as well. Many others.
Most commonly, sales are high because of good marketing backed by a publisher with a lot of money to burn. People are easily influenced. Tons of high quality games out there sell poorly because they don’t get the attention they need. Ultimately, sales don’t matter when talking about a game’s quality at all.
And just stating facts like implying a game is trash doesn’t make it true.
Wonder IS a fucking masterpiece. A true return to form for the franchise and what feels like a REAL followup to Super Mario World (my favorite in the series).
Spider-man 2 i’ll pick up on sale, which as a Spider-Man stan is weird for me, but I just don’t have the energy for open world at the time.
Spiderman 2 is garbage
You can kinda tell that the people calling Spider-Man 2 “trash” here are console war fanboys who haven’t even touched the game.
It’s fine to dislike the game, the Spider-Man series as a whole and even Sony themselves, but calling it “trash” without any actual justification is kinda pathetic. It’s a well made game with a lot of effort put into it.
